Pci sound card help!!

Hey guys, I recently just got the audiophile 2496, and I installed the drivers and everything according to the manual.

Now the prob is, I can't set the card as my default audio playback device. I can't even read my on-board sound card anymore.

The funny thing is, I can play music through Windows and Itunes, but not through firefox and IE(eg. youtube, online-cartoon-sites). My ins and outs work perfectly btw.

HELP!

So can't select the device via control panel (assuming Windows)? Go to BIOS and disable on-board audio. See if it works. If it does, there's a problem. Because you _should_ be able to use multiple devices - even simultaneously.

K thanks, I tried reinstalling everything like 4 times but to no avail. Same prob over and over, I'll try the BIOS one

Check device manager and make sure there are no IRQ conflicts.

You can try disabling your on-board audio card in the device manager and see if that works.

I've disabled the on board audio, I've disabled the device manager side, but I still can't set it as my default audio. The thing can read it leh...

time to reinstall windows. i know. it's a shortcut but definite way. there're times it's faster to reinstall than to troubleshoot microsoft's bugs...

its your browser thats giving you the issue i think, how abt reinstalling firefox?im using the same soundcard as yours but seems no issue..
btw on the control panel under "sound and audio device", what did you see?u install the right driver?vista or winxp?

Ya I installed the right driver, the card can come out on the device manager.....I'll try the browser one then.....

I also have the same PCI card but no prob. Can you c the card in your hardware manager? Under Control Panel -> Sound ands Audio Devices - > Audio tab -> Sound playback, when you click on Default Device, can you c your new sound card there? If not then yr card is not installed properly.
