Synopsis:
More than fifty years ago, Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki realized the implications of the fact that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease. He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the mother-tongue approach. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, constant repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the Suzuki approach.
In this session, participants will learn about the Suzuki’s philosophy, our approach to music education, the belief that every child can learn and the importance of the environment to nurture growth through real life examples from a family who has been in the Suzuki guitar program for over more than one decade.
This lecture will also include discussion on things that every parent can do to ensure that their child gets off to a flying start on their own Suzuki journey.
