Paiste

I totally agree that Paiste should stick to quality cymbals... just like German made cars - Mercedes, Audi and the like... they never make low end or budgetted cars... should leave it to others who are contented to make low end cymbals... which there are already existing ones but some how remain unknown to many...

hm i would like to know which paiste jazz ride's would you guys buy? in terms of price and also quality? *please state price and name*

For jazz, its best to look at the Traditional series, in which i would recommend the Light Ride cos its the most all-rounded ride. The rest, I find tat either they are too washy, or a tad too heavy in the case of the Medium rides and not as dark. Well, if u really love lotsa wash, then ya, go for the Extra Light Ride. For Signature series, I would recommend the silver mellow ride, be warned though, it only comes in 21" only or better still, the New Signature Light Dark Ride which is awesome too. All the pricing for those said series are $500 and up for each ride and tis will be the only series tat i will get, nothing lower. Hope tis helps..

Paiste do produce great cymbals, but the price is kinda too high. i started off drumming with the Paiste 402+. One of the best beginner set at that time before PST was out. Great in terms of sound and value as compared to the Sabian B8, Solar and Zildjian's ZBT/ZXT.

Ive come to find that i have a thing for dark cymbals. Never tried out any Paiste but have tried some Ks and K Custom and love the tone. HHX are pretty great too. Looking forward to try out some Paiste too.

:)

I just got a drum kit a month ago so i'm still using (the sucky) pearl cymbals =S

haha, so i'm gonna get some new basic cymbals soon, any reccomendations? (my budget is 100 plus?)

btw what are 'dark' cymbals

With a budget of a $100++, U can't get much.

Save up a bit, it doesn't hurt to be patient a bit more. :)

If U want to get those (Zildjian's As, A customs. Ks, K Customs or Sabian AAs, AAXs, HHXs, HH series or Paiste's Alphas, Dimensions, 2002, RUDEs), a suitable budget wld be around $1.5K to $2k.

Try getting Zildjian ZHTs or Sabian's XS20s or Paiste's PST3 or PST5 series if U are looking into the MAJOR 3 cymbal manufacturers.

If U are not brand wise, Istanbul Samatya's series or Bhosphorus series are a bang for your money.

If anything, avoid Zildjian ZXTs ot ZXTs Titanium series. Sabian Solars are a big NONONONO...

Ultimately, its up to individual to spend. Don't be impatient in spending as U may regret buying those stuffs.

whao 100 is really a bad cymbal budget... yea u shd go straight for quality cast bronze cymbals which wld cost 10x ur budget for a set? but if u camp overnite at the sweelee sale they wld cost like 500 a set, which is cheaper and better than instanbuls, if u dont have the patience for dec sales then jus get the istanbuls like shred5 said... if ur in a real rush to get something btr than stock cymbals (which means all other cymbals), then no choice but to go for paiste 101,201 or solars or planet Z and put up with the killing noise untill u can afford cast bronze cymbals, though this will only be slightly better than ur stock cymbals

dark cymbals refers to cymbals which sound dark (duh)... they are more musical and less cutting usually (unless ur tokin bout HHX or K custom hybrids)...

erm u cant really answer that question cuz oni SL hav em here in singapore... but if u get iit from this coming dec sale then yes, its a veryyy good buy
