Hi i'd like to know if any of you uses Paiste cymbals, sig series, rude.. etc. please post your comments about it whether good or bad and whether it is better than istanbul in your opinion. Haha thanks a lot!

The best of Paiste is that they bring out the best of B8 alloy - a mixture of bright and yet warm sound or in other words the cymbal have a wide frequency range. The bad side of it is the pricing except during swee lee sales and classified ads...

I love them all, But the pricing is a little high, even at ranking. The only other cymbals that i even other to look at now a days are certain sizes of Zildjian A customs and K customs.

I used to own istanbul as well, but i never really took to them.

Been an ardent Paiste fanboy since started drumming. Love the wider sound spectrum of their cymbals, which, unlike the darker characteristics of Zildjians, Paiste is glassier and brighter which i really love. Can never switch to any other brands no matter how hard i tried.

Ranking has a hard time selling the Signature series because of the pricing... the aunty offered to sell me at cost price... still in the process of budgetting...

I got a 16" dimension crash from Paiste, and it has got a pretty bright sound (though not as bright as an AAX studio), has a great bell, medium decay and is extremely shiny. For about $200++ after sales, I'll say it's a darn good buy.

no way man she wont profit. she's probably lying. anyways how much would it cost in the end? i've already started with a pst 3 crash, i know it sucks but im looking for the paiste sig series ride desperately.

The PST3 series is one of the better beginner/start-up series from all the cymbal-makers. The PST5 really blows away in terms of quality and pricing but the PST3 is not far behind either.Yup, a Sig ride would definitely make a great investment, it would cost a bomb, but then it will gona last u for life, barring mishaps or constant abusing. As for the cost price, i duno how much they'll offer u, but the price they always gave me is already good enuff, so would be interesting if she can lowers it further.

What the aunty said that she will not earn a single cent... she rather get back the money than to have the cymbals displayed... to me that makes business sense... you guys can go and ask her whether she is serious...

IMO anything from Alpha series and above is worth investing. PST 5 is ranked below Alpha. I have a set of Alphas and they really sound great in its semi-pro category and pricing. The gems of the series are the 20" Full Ride, 16" Thin Crash and 14" Soundedge hats...

Paiste has given the Alpha series a new look...check out the website... so the original look of Alphas in SL Sims Drive are good for collector's items... sound good and look good... it will be a good buy in the next SL sales...

Not really... should be around the range $200+ after less... can go to the showroom to check it out... the performance set list price I saw a few months back was around $800+... the crash is an 18" instead of 16"... I may go down next Monday to see what can be added to my collection... :wink:

Every drummer has their own preferences. If u like the sound from Zildjian, then get Zildjian and vice versa. There's pros and cons to each cymbal companies.

In Singapore, there's a lot of cymbal brands coming in every moment that we wldn't have noticed.

I'm basically a Sabian guy bcos of the cymbal ranges and prices that suits me but bcos of limited model range that our local dealer has, I tend to look for various models from various brands.

For price comparison, if U have unlimited cashflow, by all means Paiste is the brand to indulge in.

If U are looking at "value-for-money" point of view, Istanbul cymbals are your perfect choice.

But try not to limit urself with only a model/brand of stuffs. Its going to narrow urself. Try experimenting with different brands and models of cymbals.

As for me, I've added 2 new 16" and 18" Chinas to widen my pallette. And they are damn cheap.
