yes any regulated adaptor (i.e. Boss PSA, OneSpot, PP2+, FuelTank etc) would do. the conversion to a higher voltage is internal.

Actually, on rereading this - side note - i have no idea whether a OneSpot is regulated or not as it uses digital switching...but it works with Hardwire pedals, in principle. Do note though that I experienced some hum / noise when i tried powering it with my OneSpot, so maybe it doesn't sit well with it. Not sure if that was a one off. I've really been using batteries with it 90% of the time, and if i put it on a board it's PP2+ powered and silent.

heh! good point.
if you read the onespot FAQ (it does say it's regulated power btw) it pretty much sets out all there is to know about it. in short, anything you power a "normal" Boss PSA adaptor with (and ASA too) is compatible with a onespot. http://www.visualsound.net/faq.htm
probably tomorrow i'll check it out again, just the pedal powered by a onespot into a tube amp, and post the findings. cheers.

goose bro, share your experience - what do you think caused it? if, on paper, the 1spot is supposedly compatible with PSA adaptors?
i've had more experience with OneSpots dying one me rather than killing pedals - 3 actually (1 in particular died after about 3 short times of usage?), on a board / pedals with barely any playing time, before i finally thought screw this and got a PP2+ for the small board as well.

Best ...cheapest alternative TREX Fuel Tank Junior.
It' isolated and regulated to reduce noise and hum plus its safe for pedals.
If you can expand your budget ...get a BBE supacharger or a PP2+.
The culprit puts out 1700mA (1.7Amp) without the use of a transformer or a protection fuse. If there were to be a sudden surge on the 240VAC supply, where is all that energy gonna go?
Most pedals DO NOT come with required protection for current surge, most only have voltage regulator or maybe a reverse polarity protection.
With a transformer based power supply, a fuse protects the input(primary) and output(secondary) of the transformer for high current draw (faulty components or misuse) or a power surge....if this fails, at least it sees the regulator before getting hurled into your precious pedals.
Recent incident ....this dude contacted me saying his one spot fried taking out an OD pedal with it while gig'n in Msia.

I concur.... noticed much less hum and noise when playing at gig volumes. The fuel tank jr is a mean little power supply
Really glad i took Goose's advice to go for a proper power supply....I used to get alot of noise and hum especially when using my delays with high gain. The clock noise from my tap tempo delay actually bleeds into my sound so you hear an irritating "tock tock tock" when I'm not playing.

Wouldn't a fused plug help?
Anyways, what's the difference whether a pedal works on an 18v or 9v ah? Assuming the current remains the same, does this mean that the output power of the pedal is increased? giving this pedal more dynamics and headroom? Then what about pedals like the MI Audio TZOD which is 18v, but runs at 9v too? Does it internally up the power?
