Just wondering about how people here arrange their pedals.
For me I like it to be,
Guitar > Fuzz > Distortion > Wah > amp
so far because i dont have any other pedals yet ):

so, how do you guys arrange your pedals?

Mine's

Guitar>Wah>Dynacomp>Sparkle Drive>OD-2>Distortion Pro>GT2>GE-7>Volume Pedal (sub sent to TU-2)>Arion Chorus>DD-5>RV-5>AMP

guitar > comp > overdrive > fuzz > distortion > EQ > amp
i read somewhere that fuzz should come before distortion, but i dunno how it matters anyway since i'm not gonna turn on both the distortion and fuzz all together.

I just found out putting overdrive after a distortion produce better sound..I'm a noob with single pedals..

I'm using a 95Q..
I just tried switching the place of it from the start to the middle of the chain...then suddenly there's this significant volume boost whenever I use the pedal..weird la..

I'm using a RMC wah and whenever i use it after a distortion/boost pedal there will be a significant volume gain too. weird.

Hmm.

Hey Aenimic, I also use the GCB 95Q, however since it's placed in the 2nd position of my efx chain, I can understand what you're going through. I'd say that you try and place it before your drive pedal(s) and see if you like the sound that comes out.

Too bad my EHX Double Muff is picky and it doesn't like to be place as runner-up in the efx chain hehehe.

Yeah,I always place my 95Q at the start of the chain..but after seeing your chain,I tried it...but there is this significant increase in volume! wonder why and I didn't even activate the boost.

Double Muff picky? in what way?

Hmm.

You can refer to my Double Muff review :) regarding that issue. Perhaps you might want to share with us what drive pedals you use...?

I personally only experience that huge volume boost only if the wah pedal is placed after a drive pedal... hehe I once tried activating my wah pedal while my Daddy O and DM (single muff mode) were turned on... sheesh, what a raucious sound!

Imagine what could happen with one fuzz unit into the wah and into another OD unit!!!

i also have the increase in volume, in the same situation as you. i've changed my set-up to guitar > nyc big muff > rmc wah > ds-2.
when the wah and ds-2 are on at the same time there's no increase but when its the wah and big muff on there is a significant increase. when i switch the position of the big muff and the ds-2 the same thing happens (louder when its after the dirt pedal).

I use an MT-2

the usual chain I use is

guitar > 95Q > MT-2 > CE-2 > amp

but after looking at your's I changed to

guitar > MT-2 > 95Q > CE-2 > amp

there is also kinda like a drop in volume for the MT-2,I have yet to try putting the 95Q right at the end of the chain.

however, what reason is behind this significant boost in volume? even when I do solos (and need a boost, therefore I use the 95Q) the volume increase is not that drastic as when the 95Q AFTER the MT-2.

Hmm.

My only conclusion from all this stuff is that the 95Q will actually amplify the signal which comes from the drive pedal.. take note that the role of any drive pedal is to add gain to an existing tone.

Kinda like how the gain knob works on some tube and solid-state amps, I presume?

However, I'm not sure sure about the drop in volume.. perhaps since the wah pedal removes certain frequencies from the original signal, when the post-wah signal is processed by the drive unit that driven signal becomes much softer especially when the drive unit has an on-board EQ to boost and cut certain frequencies depending on the player.

I personally experience a slight jump in volume when used before the Daddy O, and my EQ settings on the Daddy O are pretty much bass on 3 o'clock, mids on slightly past 2 o'clock and treble on 2 o'clock.

Haha... a modest-pedalboard shoot out at my place, sometime?

Wahs into fuzzes - very very picky. Not so much for the Big Muff though, since its more distortion-ish.

Anyway, if you want to run wah before fuzz try adding a buffer inbetween.

wah -> buffer -> fuzz -> amp

Your RMC isn't 2006 onwards? Doesn't it have the built in Foxrox buffer?

If so, just use the boss DS-2 - it has a buffer.

Note, buffers into fuzz can the tone of the fuzz... can be quite... horrifying.
