Optimial multi-fx pedal for budget of 400

Hey hi softies,

I was just wondering, which would be the optimal multi-fx pedal to get for under 400? I used to be a stomp-box person ... so I got totally no idea which multi-fx is good. From what ive read, seems like the Pod XT and the GT-8 is the more popular but its out of my budget range. Any suggestions?

Btw, I play lead so best if the multi-fx comes with a wah/volume pedal.

Thanks once again

I've tried all sorts, Zoom, POD XTs, Korg AX3000G.. nothing comes quite as close to the Boss ME-50 in terms of simplicity to use and sounds that aren't as synthetic. XTs aren't good if you are a lead because it is almost impossible to switch tones especially when you play lead. For your budget, consider getting 2nd hand multi-efx. $400 for a 2nd hand multi efx can cover most available in the market. Trust me on the ME-50 mate. :)

aye,

thanks for all the replies, its very much appreciated =)

Guess ill have to start looking out for 2nd hand Boss- ME50 for sale then. thanks once again

hmm.

just wondering, why is it hard to change settings durin a live performance with the POD XTLive? Can u just preset the settings and juz stomp on it to activate durin a gig or smt? Or it doesnt work this way?

Sorry, totally a newbie to the multi-fx arena haha

its not hard.. the guy who said that it was is referring to the pod xt, not the live version..
btw the hefty price of an xt live can be a big turnoff..
and yes, the link fenderben gave is a good deal..

grab my friend's PODxt live at 400 with bag! bag's 90bucks... its just repaired from a slight screw up, and ever since my friend hasnt trusted line6 anymore.. we're still into stompboxes.. pm me if interested..

if you can up your budget by 88 bucks, you can get a brand new Vox Tonelab LE. Check it out at city music. Very easy to use and dial in a tone you like, compared to some of the popular multi efx units out there. Currently out of stock I believe...shipment should be in soon, but better put a deposit to ensure your piece, if you like what you see/hear.

ahh ... so many new multi-fx to check out. Thanks peeps for all the helpful replies. The hospitality of Softies has always been talked about, guess now I finally experienced it for myself. =)

Lookin forward to hang around with u guyz for yrs to come.

Rock on,

I've handled my friend's KORG AX-3000G and i personally find it hard to dial what i want in (maybe because i don't read manuals)... all i can say is that most of their stock patches are crap and there's this mt-2 thinness about some of the distortions. some patches were good but then again, we're talking about stock patches which means something not made for the user...

I've heard Dhalif's Vox Tonelab SE and i think he knows how to tweak it to sound mother killer... i don't know if its the same for the Vox Tonelab SE though...

multi efects are good... but still, botique stompboxes are where the mojo is!!

agreed! but so far..i've only tried it with stock pups..so it sounds average..abt the mt-2 thinness..i'll call it fizz..its present..but it doesnt bother me too much..

the wah is decent..altho it might be a lil too nasal (harsh)...modulations wise..its a love hate affair..

cos there are parameters u can tweak (if you know wad does wad)..but overall..its a rather vast improvement from its predecessor (ax1500g)..

u mean "don't know if its the same for the Vox Tonelab LE"?

tonelab SE is good..really good..but the size and weight..gosh..killer for someone petite like myself. :D

Lolz............i definitely wld suggest the XT Live, gd tone in a (small?) package. For that price, its a real steal(2nd hand i mean). Go for it. XT Live has solid build and the amp and cab sims are excellent. Also so try the ME50, Zoom G9.2tt and ToneLab LE, these are comparable to the XT Live in terms of value for money. Jus watch out for the less durable construction of the Zoom tho. The AX3000G IMHO isn't as gd as it shld be, at that price. Korg needs to review the design and the patches.

Holy Jamoley Batman you CANNOT be fricken serious.

The ME-50 is imvvvho (where vvv = very very very) THE WORST sounding multifx to date.
