Omg can anyone play like him?!?!?!?!

Honestly, my advice is to start out slowly. Anyone can pick up the guitar and learn how to play fast. But at the end of the day, what you want to achieve is finding your own unique voice and not just be another one of those shredders trying to dupe their *insert guitar hero here* thats what most of the shredders in the 80s got accused of : being Van Halen imitaters.

Its important to start out slow because once you get used to the motions and the necessary rudiments of picking, speed will come naturally.

I personally think that you shouldn't jump into the shredding mindset immediately. Nail your basics first, vibratos, bends, normal alternate picking(one note per string stuff too). You don't want to end up playing 30 NPS and being unable to do a proper on pitch semitone bend.

most metal guitarists sound like shit on acoustic.

I met a 16 year old girl in recent weeks who could play Master Of Puppets cleanly... Very cleanly... And she replicated the same accuracy on a nylon string... That was very impressive.

I guess it depends on what you play. You can play metal riffs on an acoustic but it'll sound weird. I can never understand hard rock bands doing acoustic sets with their regular hard-edged songs either.

If you play other genres, not just metal, for sure you can play acoustic. Blues, rock, bluegrass, whatever's out there. And even within metal itself there are acoustic passages and short interludes done with acoustic guitars.

I don't see how a heavy metal guitarist is limited to only electric guitar...
