off pitch neck???

I am having this strat from my friend. It sounds to me that the higher notes near the pickup sides sound a bit lower than the same notes but one octave lower ( 12 frets left, same string). And this guitar is quite old, nearly 30 years.

So is it that the neck a bit curve? And is there anyway to solve it?

:(

make sure the neck is straight first. then check the intonation. if both fails.. prob means he changed something on the guitar and the scale length is off.

Thanx for the reply brothers.
What do you mean by intonation?

To my ear, let say I pick note A at 5th fret and note A at 17th fret, the note A at 17th is about 1/3 lower than what the A note at 5th fret sounds.

And it is itching to my ear if I play with guitar pro or backing track, if I play at lower frets it is ok but as it approaches higher frets, it sounds off. :(

intonation anomaly occurs when the bridge saddles are not compensated according to the string length so the notes after the 12th fret sound off when the guitar is in proper (standard) tuning.
