Whats the difference between modulation and ambiance in a multi-efx?

modulations are effects which you usually place late in the signal chain..
phaser, chorus, tremolo, flanger, ring modulator, etc are some of the modulations..
and ambience kinda means the environmental sound?
so i suppose ambience would refer to reverb effects, and probably delay..
what multifx labels their reverb as ambience though?
