Hi.. need some basic advice to configure back the cmos, Recently I've changed the battery of the motherboard and when I turned on the power again , the screen does not show the running of the booting up sequences .Instead it just show a very fast line of words like cpu temperature etc..and then to the start up of window xp page. Pls advice ..tks

you can try this

if accessing the BIOS as in the famous blue screen is what you seek, as soon as you boot up your computer spam Delete button to enter the menu. Different BIOS makers uses different key but Delete is quite common.

Yes, go into BIOS by the methods mentioned above. Settings might have been changed. But it's a small matter, really.

Important BIOS options should be understandable, you can leave the incomprehensible ones alone. If it's an old computer you should have the manual somewhere, or the quick start guide. If not, google using the following syntax:

Code:
computer-brand model bios how to manual guide

Taking out the battery has reset your motherboard's BIOS settings to it's default values. Follow the rest of the thread and tweak it back to whatever you want. Usually it's a line about verbose reporting or longer POSTs.
