Computer cannot start up

Earn your way to get a comp for yourself. I know the feeling of deprived of this and that. But turn it into motivation to work your ass out.

My first hard earn computer was unfortunately was a PowerMac. Becos, it was own by me, my sibling automatically used the share PC that I built. Later on, they were getting their own computer. Now in my second Mac, my iMac is making a bit of income. Only video conferencing is only function that my family use in my iMac to communicate my siblings oversea.

ex14 : what kongwee says is right. I got into diy computer technician thingy 12 years ago (i'm 26) because I was sick of sharing with my elder brother who time and time again find means and ways to lock me out of the computer but i kept hacking my way in (win95 back then was really full of loopholes) just so i could play around with audio software/learn audio editing to led till who I am today.. although I did keep frying the computer with DAW softwares (on AMD 200mhz 64mb ram!!!) and that drove him nuts as the controlfreak he is.

I increased my knowledge/experience via hardwork, I fixed computers for people for free back then, they'd give me a little by little cash + their unwanted parts whenever they fix up a new pc with me. and I'd put old systems together for my own.

okay I'm not trying to be a jerk or what, or from some stupid apple fan club,
but srsly, use a mac. It's not that expensive anymore, and so far, I don't have to take those shyt I had for the last 12 years when using pc.

And don't get me wrong, I still use PC for games and at times my course (programming & electronics) stuffs, but u know, there are some things you just cannot allow screw up.
(remembering how Intel hooked up a elaborate Hackintosh for some interface demo recently.. hilarious, but the moral of the story: There are some things which you just can't let a pc handle. Intel can't afford to "hang" halfway during that conference.)

And not to mention the fact that I need a mac to run Logic. So yea, consider a mac? Far more stable. :)

Hello There!
Im Maritah!
Im new in this site!
Dual boot is not difficult to set up, and once set up, is really easy to startup. A novice can do it. You get a startup screen on bootup of which you need to choose which OS you want to boot.
Just keep on posting Guys!
Thanks!
Good Luck!...

woops forgot to close thread ._.'''' anyway thanks.
Crap cannot close tread.

I really don't have the resources now to get my own com. (i can't even get that vox amp i want TT_TT and thats half he price of a com i want.) A Mac is even out of the question, it's cheaper, but still mighty-ly expensive, especially with the specs of a mac.

The Acer tech is coming to my house today, and i'm not in, all thanks to my fatehr deciding that it would be better that getting it ASAP is better over making sure that tech does a thorough job. Hope this solves everything if not i'm gonna freaking scream into ACER customer support ears and barrage em with emails.

Once again thanks for all the advice and suggestions

Is it better to buy a new Window XP cd or just to use the Acer format CD? Because I heard by using the Window XP cd, there won't be much junk and thus not much ram will be wasted.

you can remove the bloatware and configure uyr startup progs using msconfig...

Holy shit this reminds me of a terrible problem a friend's Dell laptop faced. He's living overseas and not later than a few months it crapped out. He's not a noob entirely so he knew if the screen was lighting up but there was no visual feedback on the monitor or external screen, it was a problem with the GPU. Sent it to Dell, and guess what, they returned it as-is stating that the driver CD couldn't be found in the laptop bag.

So he turned to me for advice, and I gave Dell some advice in return. Got a call within a few hours, and they sent an engineer to replace the GPU the next day. And well that meant replacing the entire motherboard. And now it's all fine and dandy.

Moral of story: Vendors can sometimes be a little stupid.

tell me about it. my nsf days my CO has an entire IT department to solve his PC issues but he kept calling me..

cos IT Dept > refer to vendor > into the abyss of "refer you to another department" until someone finally decides to reply back with "it's the consumer's fault (when it isn't.)"

haha hi if you are still having problems after the acer tech guy finished with his stuff you might want to try reseating your RAM. if your comp cannot start up and make weird beeping sounds you might want to analyse its POST msg too. it helps in the trouble shooting process. just go google post codes.
