next time want to delete my thread, at least tell me ah....

the admin apparently does weird stuff according to my friend hu intro me to this site ... delete stuff when he feels like or what .. my friend say, not me ..

The Admin has every right to delete a thread which he thinks in unfit for the forum, if he cannot do that , Soft will be a rubbish dump, already some of the threads just waste web space

Ai Yo. If it isn't appropiate, James will delete. It's his website ya know?
Anything happen they find him not the ones who posted the offending remarks.

from what i've seen so far, James is pretty hands off. threads have only been closed down when they get really out of hand. aside from that he lets things slide as long as people are sensible about it. people occasionally swear, rant about things on the forums, they debate, they sometimes argue. he doesn't clamp down on things like that, he just makes sure it doesn't get ridiculous. i think he's a great administrator.

+1

I don't think James is obliged to tell us when he wants to delete any of our threads.
I think we ARE obliged as forum members, to observe netiquette and adhere to forum rules.

but at least must let the thread starter or poster know ma...its like you go to an exam hall, and find out you got barred from it, without any notification...how would you feel?

it might not be james's fault entirely. sometimes websites/forums do go haywire. so bear in mind dat there might be a glitch in the system when u entered your post. he's had his fair share of website probs as far as i know

I suggest a warning to whoever started a stupid thread/posted a stupid post. If they repeat this again a second warning will be issued, and if they still do not take the hint they will be banned.

More mods probably needed for this though. One person can't handle the Singaporean unintelligence force.

slapshock: if you're referring to your post regarding "how to take bus from bishan to bukit timah", i believe james has every right to remove your thread.

Reason being, though it's in the "kopi-tiam" section...you can't just start a thread for getting a 1 off answer. If this is so, there will be countless threads sprouting up just asking for solution for some mundane stuffs. I believe some searching on your part will lead you to www.transitlink.com.sg. Not starting a thread here asking for bus services going there, though meant for questions but not for a "quickie" solution.

Just my 2c worth, james will be having some hard time maintaining the traffic of this site by such posts. If need be, i suggest that this thread be clamped down too and perhaps someone who's good with words try adding a rule to the forum sticky.

yeah, its good to delete some rubbish thread, but what i mean was, if my thread was deleted, pls at least pm me say that my thread was deleted due to bla bla bla.. so that i will know my thread deleted off and i wouldnt go like 'eh, wheres my thread, i post here or other place, eh eh eh" then.. i post a NEW SAME THREAD again.. and go on and go on..

thanks eh.

Your friend said and do you believe? If he is the one who say it, let him post what he feel if he wants to.

Sometime when you post go straight to the point, my friend never say but i say the Admin here did quite a good job, he has the every right to delete, modify, lock, kick, ban any thread that deem unappropriate in the forum.

np dude, nothing against you. It's actually a good chance to let other softies know more net etiquette. Perhaps you could pm James about this, so that it will be a much better experience next time for all of us down here if threads are removed/locked.

To detroit red. An admin in ANY forum has every right like what riff had mentioned, furthermore this site is funded from his own pocket..coupled with some donations from softies from time to time.

your friend? good way of intro-ing you here. If he can, step out and make his statement then, not through bad-mouthing behind ppl's back.

Slapshock, I think your point is taken, and it's not unreasonable either. As far as I know, James usually post something of will PM that person if the thread is in the danger of being taken off or being locked. He's very reasonable and fair. But then, he being the only moderator, has to go through tons of threads each day to monitor. Not an easy job - and he's not getting paid for it either... So I believe overlooking one or two things like this is understandable.
