New to tuning

Recently wanted to try some different tunings apart from standard, like Drop D, but I realized that when I try to tune my low E string, it doesn't go to D without threatening to snap.

Are there any precautions needed before attempting to change the tune of your guitar?

Dropping it to D threatens to snap? that's pretty weird unless you are tightening it. (which is of course..wrong)

bro, you need to loosen the low E string until its tune into a D. Thats why its called drop D tuning :)

Hmm, weird. Actually it could be tuned previously until now. Must've been doing it wrong after all lol. Thanks.

How do I do other tunings? I've seen some like D# G# C# F# A# D#.

thats half step down...you tune the a string to the 4th fret of the E string...so now your A is in G#...then, tune like you would for the rest of the strings...

Hello, you should loosen the E string till the 7th fret of it sounds the same as the A string.
