technically the day after, but i got too excited when i got it that i forgot to take pictures while there was still light.

it's got quite a fair bit of player wear, but i couldn't care less because i got it for a freaking steal.

fresh out of the box. came with a mono bag, seems to be an older version though, as it has a black rubber logo on the front as opposed to the metal stamped one on the current ones. also, popcorn flooding my brother's room's floor.

one day, i'll order a custom brown tortoise shell pickguard for this to get the real 60s jazz vibe.

and if you still don't know, this is a Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn Jazz, iirc frenchtoast and some other softies have this exact model too. but mine has had the original neck swapped out for a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub P-bass neck. maybe that's why it was so cheap? not that i care.

i got it for 800USD off a nice guy on Talkbass. considering that these go for about 800USD to 1000USD second hand and that this comes with a freaking Mono bag worth 130USD, i couldn't be happier.

too bad it came with stainless steel strings, too bright for me...and i'm too broke to buy a new set. still sounds freaking amazing though. plays like a dream, flawlessy built (except for a tiny gap in the neck pocket, but it's not the original neck, so there.) imo, it can slay any USA Fender. this bass won't be going anywhere for a long time. (wtf smilies count towards the 4 picture limit lol.)

Wouldnt say that too soon...there's that extra mojo in USA fenders that not many know of. But well, lets not go into detail, just shut up and play your bass, like what they all say.

Congrats on getting your new bass...it really looks spanking sweet...beautiful stuff! :D

i'm willing to bet Lakland's QC is better though. ;)

ima go out and buy straplocks for it now, every guitar should a pair of those.

agreed. that's very true.

but damn that Lakland looks sweet~

Thats why I've kept my USA fender instead of going to Suhr or *insert some booteek brand here*.... they simply don't outdo a Fender better than Fender.

Anyways what pups are in that bass?

Lakland Skylines are cheaper than USA Fenders though. anyway, Lakland used to put Nordstrands in their basses, but they make their very own pickups now. still sounds pretty damn good though.

Oh yea! You wont need to look elsewhere for a long long time!

hi five! i'm jealous of your JO's wood grain, mine doesn't seem as nice.

Of course la...you cant compare them directly that way cos the Lakland is MIK so that you get the most value...I would say they are bang for buck.

What I meant is even if you do get something top of the line...like an ESP Navigator which I've tried...it won't outdo a USA Fender in terms of the "Fender tone", but maybe in terms of vibe, yes. Fender still has that edge in terms of that but who knows, you'll end up liking the vibe of it better than a Fender :D Which is why most ppl go for these booteek copies in the first place.

true true, i've been trying to get the classic 60s Fender Jazz tone, but thanks to their ridiculous recent price hike, most of them got put out of my price range. i got this Lakland because it's modeled after Joe Osborn's 1960 Fender Jazz bass so it should definitely get me there, but also thanks to all the good reviews i read about it.

try asking VinOnBass, he's owned both Laklands and USA Fenders. :)
