Need Your Opinion On Drumset Brands

Hi guys,

i'm shopping for a drumset but not sure which brands are better than others..my budget is below 1k so can anyone tell me which brands are good?

i saw a carlos set going for 550 and another going for 890..is carlos a good and durable brand?

what about tama and pearl?

your opinions and feedback are most appreciated!

thanks =D

Carlos is more low-end and not preferred, Tama and Pearl are big names and produce many high-quality sets. No great drummers out there play Carlos, at least to my knowledge haha.

Side info: Since you're on a tight budget, I assume your budget's going to include your cymbals...Do bear in mind that while you can make a bad drumset sound decent and good by tuning it well, you can't make bad cymbals sound good (unless you can mod them well).

Personally, I would rather go for a second-hand Tama (eg. Stagestar, Swingstar, etc.) or Pearl (eg. Rhythm Traveller, Forum, Export, etc.) than a first-hand Carlos, because I know I can trust the hardware made by Pearl. I've heard that Carlos hardware is not decent hardware. I don't know which brand's stock cymbals sound better though.

thanks metzalx for your opinion =) i think i'll get a 2nd hand tama or pearl in this case..

it's a set for practise but still, i'm hoping its good and will last..yup

yea. as they all say. skip the calos. if you can afford it go for tama pearl. why not you try the peace demolition? its within your budget. yep. check ezimusic out. hope this helps

peace drums are only sold by ezimusic? is that an online store? cuz if not, i'd sure like to go view the stuff..or, do other shops carry peace drums?

also, do you think the peace legion is good enough? or should i get the peace demolition?

Hmmm Peace drums might be interesting...

Actually I find Tama drums better than Pearl, because I find Pearl kits sound a bit unpleasant... My opinion...

Tama is also durable. I always whack very hard. But it don't come cheap...

dude... which drums are you comparing? Are you comparing Tama Starclassic with Pearl Export? If thats the case, it is an unfair comparison. I've played Tama Swingstar and Pearl Export which both drums are in the entry level and I would say both sounds nice if you put nice heads and fine tune them. Durablity? Depends on how you play it.

It was a rather high-end Pearl kit I heard... Not sure the series though, did not get a chance to play it.

But even then I don't like Tama snares. I'd get a Tama kit, but substitute the snare for a Yamaha maple snare.

hi there vlrc.firstly i would to say,its not really appropriate to decide just by brand itself but rather the kits in detail.under 1K there are a few i would recommend.

pearl export or the peace demolition.
(space constraint) tama stagestar or pearl rhythm traveler

most importantly is that u try the kit and experience first hand before deciding,no point if we recommend and you dislike the kit.after all,it's for your ears, not ours.

hope this helped.

personally i would go for the peace demolition, its well within your budget, and it sounds reasonable to its price.
