Need some help in playing..

I'm a newbie on guitars. Had always been a drummer for quite some time.

Anyway, how does SRV mute all the strings in the main beginning rhythm for 'pride and joy'. I tried hitting the note and used the rest of my left hand fingers to mute the bottom strings for the muted strums. Can't seem to do it cleanly. Does he use his palm instead?

try other methods and just experiment what sounds best..

experiment with the position and the amount of force you apply with your left hand fingers...
