Hi guys, i'm looking for a new guitar with a fixed bridge and my budget is around $1000.I play all types of genres but mostly Metal and Hard Rock.Im looking for a versatile guitar which can deliver a solid metal tone but is still able to produce sweet crystal clears and is good for lead as well.not sure if thats possible but what the heck.

i was thinking of getting an Ibanez RGR321EX and swapping out the pickups for either dimarzios or seymour duncans. is it advisable?

Thanks.

thx for the reply man.im looking for a super strat style guitar, and unfortunately not a big fan of chunky necks.....

yeah, i think an ibanez will be the most versatile .i really wanted a schecter c-1 hellraiser but unfortunately the price is way out of my budget.anyone know what the best price for it is? and what other schecter models are available.....

hmm if u have not personally tried the schecter, means ur gassing for it only! after a while u'll most probably like something "nicer"..
i think ibanezes are your best bet too.

yeah man, hahaha definitely gassing for the schecter.but i have a few friends who use schecters and they are very happy with theirs.Do you know of any place that i can try some schecters out?i have a Ibanez RGT42DX but it fell and the neck cracked.I've had it repaired and it feels alright and all but theres just some mental scar in my head, haha.tryin to sell it second hand now for around $500.Furthermore i never used the tremolo therefore i want a fixed bridge guitar.

hahah schecters are underrated and overlooked sometimes! the omen 6 that i own is really playable imo. haha try g77 lo. i used to Gas for some pretty white schecter c-1 at g77 for 1k.

haha, yea thats another reason i was looking at schecter, not many people use it,haha.I shall check out G77 soon.Unfortunately i live in malaysia so stuff here is friggin expensive.Plan to make a trip down to singapore soon to get my new guitar....do they tax you when u bring it out?i don't think they will right?

Hand carry won't tax lar. I brought my guit in and of of Malaysia before.

I personally don't like schecters. The neck doesn't feel right and the knobs seems out of reach for me. Well, I'm an Ibanez fan...

is the neck really thick?cos i read a review for the schecter c-1 hellraiser and the dude said its comfortable to play. personally i love ibanez necks too so guess ibanez it is.Any other guitar brands i should look for?

Go ibanez, if you don't like chunky necks, the wizard II necks should suit you, their thin and flat, but it does suit everyone, i suggest you go down to sweelee and try them out, the RGs, and all that. I'm sorta partial to ibanez because i kinda prefer their guitar designs for being more pointy and having the quality BC Rich does not. But yes, go RG if you like the thin, flat plank of a neck(i'm not deriding it, i love it). If you want a les paul but think its not pointy enough, get the IC400 Iceman, sounds a hell lot like a les paul does not not look obese(no offense to LP fans)

Ok, if you don't mind how a yamaha looks, then you should take a look, some of their guitars do have rather flat necks abit like the wizard IIs.

Thx for the advice bro.I think i'll stick to ibanez la, i like the feel.and like u said it looks good and sleek.I think for the money you pay, ibanez is hard to beat....

bro IMHO right, a les paul with EMGs wll suit your needs  but then again im biased to les pauls cause i use one haha just my 2 cents

haha, i don't want emgs because it pretty much kills all hope for a versatile guitar making it purely for metal. And i love the tone of les pauls but i don't like the feel of the neck cos it's too thick for me.Furthermore i prefer super strat shaped guitars.Thx anyway bro.

RG321. =)
$600, $480 after sweelee's standard 20% discount.

Then you can use your leftover money, buy pickup that fits your needs, and have it installed.
