hi..i'm thinking of getting a new amp cos i think my current amp isn't being honest to the tones of my guitars (Epiphone B.B King Lucille & Epiphone Vintage SG G-400)...vote the amps that u guys think i should get..i'm looking for a versatile amp with warm, smooth cleans & able to punch with a lil OD/Dist when applied...(great for home use and also for small outdoor gigs..)my neighbours don't mind loud noises

Based on the guitars you have, and your defination of how your amp should be like... the Vox pathfinder might just be it. Prob too small for gigging but don't you like, get amps @ gigs?

Anyway

What kind of tones you looking for?

Are you going to supplement your drive tones with pedals?

Style of playing?

what is christian rock ? just curious .....

btw i hope to try those Rocktron amps if someone brings them in soon :D

dunno much about VOx amps..but i do noe Marshall amps like de Marshall MG15MS II is a great amp...its got spring reverb and its a mini STACK!!!
haha...still its jus 15watts...may not be powerful enuff for a gig...played with a 15 watts in a school hall once...my amp kept crackin and it was hot...burning hot...

why not get the Marshall MG30DFX...i plan to get tt too...it sounds great i think...quite versatile...

man i wouldnt recommend a marshall, well the big toob marshalls do their thing but i think the mg series and the lower wattage avt series just dont make the cut. for me i would say the vox ad30vt. it has a pretty good drive as compared to a tube driven amp sound. and if u love effects and stuff theres enough to explore. the rest arent too good either. laneys clean is pretty pristine but their drive sounds buzzy and like a hive of bees. i also use a toneblaster at home for practice. drive is pretty good with saturation and decent cleans. line 6 would just be good for the drives. never impressed by their cleans. seem to have too much compression and no sparkle. hope this helps but then best to narrow down to a few and still go and try. one mans meat, another mans poison.

Hmm.

The Vox AD30VT gets my vote, but given the guitars you have, I'd say that maybe what you'd need is an EQ pedal and a footswitch to compliment the Vox. I'd say that an EQ pedal is added versatility in any axe-slingers' pedal chain, not to mention the tone-shaping possibilities available.

the solid state Marshalls get compared to the tube counterparts all the time- IMO this shouldn't be the case. the former were conceived for different needs.
