Need help with sound

hey guys, i dunno where to put this thread but i tink it should get some help here =))

anw, i've been having problems, getting the right sound i want. i want to get the right sound similar to (a) dave murray and (b) ritchie blackmore. currently, i have an ME-50 but it sounds awful and way too digital when i use it for jamming. so i need suggestions on what ANALOG PEDALS i should get to achieve (a) and (b). i know blackmore's sound is almost impossible to achieve but at least, the nearest to it can still be found. anw the guitar i'm using is a gibson les paul with seymour duncan pickups.

any suggestions of pedals anyone please? EQ, overdrive, distortion, compresser, more?

for ritchie blackmore ... u should use a strat / or some single coil equiped guitar

you sure a me-50 sounds digital ?
i dun find mine digital

leecs : i prefer having blackmore's tone first then from there i do some changes to make it my tone since his is very "clean"

godspeed64: its a marshall VS15R at home. no tube amps

ratboy : yeah it sounds really digital if you were to crank up the volume. almost all the distortions i use have that almost same digital sound in it. what settings do you have on your me-50?

I think there's something you need to consider. I'm not saying the ME50 isn't digital, but read on.

I used to own an ME30 years ago. I jammed and recorded it regularly in the past. It was always thin and digital. No matter what guitar I used. Then now, I have a nice set of analog pedals. Very natural, and very warm. But when I recorded myself again in the jam studio, I realised there was a very familiar sound coming out. It was also thin and digital. Not as thin as the past, but thin though for my dislike. Even the guitar was different, and much more so compared to what I used to use.

Then I realised that it was because I was always playing thru a Roland Jazz Chorus. The EXACT same amp I used and recorded in the past. (Same studio mah) I used to blame the ME30, but now I realise it might not have been the ME30's fault entirely...;)

I used to use the ME50... and got so fed up with it.. I could tell by the faces of my fellow jammers that my sound sucks.. The sound was bloody shrill lah.. For me when I played it on my own it sounds decent enough.. but in a band context it sounds terrible.. have tried it with several amps in different jamming studios.. From Fender Twin, to Marshalls, to some other amps but one thing remained the sound sucked.. Didn't matter if I used my strat or tele or even with a les paul..

I got rid of the ME50 and have a nice set of analog pedals as well.. made a world of difference... made my once (to me lah) unplayable tele sound so much better. Also made my sound more relevant to a band context...

Bottom line is.. if you're facing the same problems as me.. just get rid of it and as to what pedals to get.. it really depends on what you like.. For me all my pedals are relatively transparent sounding.. which is what I dig.. so go our there.. explore.. and get ready to spend loads of money.. it never ends! hahaha..

i dun tink its the amps onli bro. i have tried setting the me-50 with tube amps like marshall, fender and ibanez. its all the same. the digital sound is still there. setting the amp eq doesnt give much help too.
