need help with double pedal placement >_>

hey guys i was wondering coz i juz bought a double pedal and my hihat stand seems to be interferring with my left double pedal. so everytime i use my left double pedal my leg keeps hitting the hihat stand part... is there like a specialized stand for hihats to accommodate the pedals?

if its possible could some guys here help me by maybe telling me the names for these kinda stands and how much it would cost? thx >_>

oh yea and i was wondering..everytime i step on my hihat the stand also moves even though it has a carpet floor. is there anyway to firmly stick the stand there so it doesnt move? im still a learning drummer so theres alot of the equipment stuff i dunno about i was hoping u guys can help me out :?

Hey there, welcome!

You'll find that the stands which have swivel legs are usually from mid to higher end range. E.g, the HH stand that came with my Pearl RT (low end) can't swivel.

There are HH stands like the Pearl Elims, Iron Cobras, DW5500s with only 2 legs, for least obstruction. These higher-end stands will usually set you back $250ish-$400ish.

How does your HH stand move? Forwards? How are you stepping on it? If it's still flying forward with carpet, perhaps you're using too much forward force. Observe yourself when playing. Try to control your foot and use a UP/DOWN motion, instead of pushing your foot forward.

You can try what weckl suggested, or there is an alternative way which I always do when the highhat stands available at studios/gigs can't be swivelled.

Open the highhat legs wider such that your pedal can slot in between the highhat stand's legs. That works for me. Play around with it. You'll find a way

Oh ic.. Thx for the info @@ So it cost about 200plus.. Man thats kinda expensive haha.. I went to yamaha today and saw that theres also some legless stands o.o are these stands stable too? Or worth getting? My current hihat legs also dun seem to be adjustable.. Im not sure if its becoz its old(2nd hand set) or i jus dunno how lol..

actually i think the best way. heed mel80. extend the leg as much as possible. you never know. better practice with something in the way then without.

for me, if i experience that type of problem in the jamming studios,
i will tend to put my hats pedal abit further....

believe it or not, sometime my hats pedal will even be in a 90degrees position facing my doube pedals, i kid you not

if i put the legs over my double pedal, it will hinder my legs movement...
coz for me, in such situation, i need to be comfy wif my legs position when moving towerds the double pedals and thus playing it (altho my double pedalling sux big time!!!!!)

the hats will be my second priority as my legs will only be moved slightly when stepping on them...

try playing around Fish...
as maybe youre not used to shifting your left legs around yet.. but once youre used to it, your left leg will haf its own brain and will know its way around....
