Need help on my mindset

Not too sure if this is the right place to post at, but sorry if this is at the side
Having this mindset is really pain. Basically is just the mindset of

cheap = pee, expensive = great

I "used" to have this mindset, until last year, i bought off 2nd hand guitar which really suck me into it, excellent playablity and tone. Despite getting that, my journey on finding the perfert guitar is still going on. Until now that guitar have the best playablity and tone among all the guitars(to a certain genre and extend). Other guitars only come with a short dating period. Oh yeah, i am compaing a 250 dollar guitar and a mixture of guitars that retails for 1.5k+ -> 800 each. i have a total of 6 of those guitars.
Its either i get lemons all the time or the guitar that cost 250 really stand out. I choose NOT to put the guitar brand and name, cause someone will defintly start flaming i suppose so.

BUT BUT, the thing is that, when ever i play the guitar that cost 250, i feel like i neglected the rest, and waste ton of money. How can i over come this?

Btw i really need to thanks the person who sold me the guitar, it cost 250, it came with a old leather bag, it had missing locking nuts and whammy bar, we hold the deal on boon lay int mrt. I took it without much inspection.

i can relate to your episode here- if one owns many guitars, there will come a time when one gem would kill off the rest in every aspect; it's especially lethal when that gem isn't one bearing a prestigious brand name & made in an exclusive custom shop, from a preferred country of origin.

the ideal is of course to ignore the prestigious associations & go with whatever works for you but many of us here are still bothered by brand name associations which is the primary trigger of other reverences.

relating to your specific experience, it's really ok to be engaged with a cheapo for a while & hibernating the rest in your collection. if you think you can live with that special one & doing away with the rest, then you've come to the finer points of need assessments- go with what your better judgement tells you. 8)

as for me, i have arguably equal pleasant encounters with the lower-priced guitars & the ones at the other end in my collection, so they are all for keeps.

Itll be great if u can share what the $250 guitar is though. Don't have to mention the rest. At least those of us with low cash may benefit as well.

Cheers

In today's standard of living... you can get good stuff at good prices.

Guitars can be made of the best woods but sound... dull. Cheap ones can be had for a fraction of an expensive guitar, and sound really really good.

Sure, perhaps... 1 in 50 of the cheap ones would sound really good. Where 1 in 20? Of the expensive ones sound bad? You get what I'm saying?

Expensive ones != to your factory production stuff. I'm talking guitars with soul, woods choosen carefully, lovingly put together - guitars with soul.

I guess 1 such example is the Squier 51... Made in Indonesia, roughly about 250 - 300 for 1... And it's great as compared to the Chinese made Squiers which retails for about 450++

we will need to hypnotise you to change your mindset.

are you ready?

sell away the rest of your guitars and keep the favourite player. That is if you're not a collector.

Yep. Sell those you know you won't touch much.

In any case, the mentality - actual objective quality sometimes is true. If you find your electronics giving way (pots scratchy, connections bad), do fix them up.

You can always channel your $ to other resources. Not just guitar either :)
