Need Help!-mixer adundance problem!!!

Hi.

For example the I have a mixer and the band is recording. I am part of the band and I am playing in it. This also means I cannot do the mixing (am I right? Tell me if I am wrong). I am also recording it through Cubase LE 4(Which has a mixer in it). So in this scenario the mixer is useless?

1) have you read http://tinyurl.com/diyrecording ?
2) unless you are using your hardware mixer as a PREAMP. then it's best to mix later on in cubase. don't apply any eq/panning on the hardware mixer itself... unless your mixer's brand is something like a 4 letter word that starts with an N. ends with an e.
