Need help in deciding

Reading all the comments make me confused even more >.< does the GL300 come with a pickguard? if it does, i'm sold =D liao.

Also, compared to an Epi, does it have a good resale value?

What i can say is the tone from the pickups on the rally sounds better than from the epiphones.

really? seems like rally's LP is really comparable with epi's LP.... i still thought that Rally's LP is an entry level model which is value for the amount paid. meaning that it is good for its $300 - $400+ price range.. but still cant be compared to epi's LP which would cost at least $700+, due to the vast price difference.

apparently not huh... am really considering getting a rally too.

A guitar is not judged by the amount of money paid. You can get a PRS SE at $950 but its still considered entry level by the manufacturer's standards. Epiphones, imo, are merely riding on the famous Gibson. I dare say that there are many other guitars better than Epi.

Hmm Other then the rally gl-400 wh, are there other guitars that are similar to the epiphone les paul standard?Could you recommend me some with good pickups and similar look with the epiphone les paul .(I know looks of the guitar is the last thing every guitarist should consider , but i kinda think you play better with something which catches your eye)
And say if i buy the rally gl-400 ,would it be better to go mod it or to save for a better guitar in the future?(thinking of custom paint and emg 81 pickups)

If you like the guitar, there's no need to upgrade to another, or change anything... In my opinion.

And yeah, comparing an MIC Epiphone LP with the Rally, I'd vote for Rally. But I must say MIK Epiphone LPs are really nice, but they're in the $1K range brand new.

One Epiphone model which I like is the Ultra. If you are looking for a Les Paul copy, you can consider Grassroots and Tokai. If you have better budget, Edwards and Burny are good choices.

I'm also looking for a Les Paul but can't afford anything above $500 cos I'm unemployed at the moment and have to save wisely.

I tried the Epi LP Std at G77 which was going for $800 flat and that one is limited edition, which is red with matt finish. The body and neck feels smooth and satin like, not sticky/lacquered like most LPs. It had a very good tone and had a great time playing Rush tunes.

The GL-300, I reckon, doesn't have the matt finish (which I'm looking for when buying an LP, I always hated LPs becos of their sticky/lacquered necks)but seeing that its almost half the price of the Epi LP Std, I'd take the GL-300 and save myself precious amount of dough. I will have to force myself to get used to the GL-300. I've not yet tried one but might be getting one soon this week if it feels and sounds right. The reviews on the Internet have been good so far.

O.O I thought the MIK les pauls were out of production or something hoho.. the china made and the korean made epi LPs are far between the difference.. try not to buy the china ones IMO if you have the money do get the korean made ones...

if your budget is limited you should just buy the rally guitars and save up somemore and just get yourself a GIBSON =D
