Hey there,
I've just acquired a new guitar through a trade with a friend. It's a s-s-s strat with WB pickups.
When I got it, it did hum a bit when the gain was boosted, minimally though, and the hum would disappear when I mute the strings.
Today, I decided to change the 3 tone and volume knobs, and after doing so, the hum seems to be a lot more evident, and it doesn't go away when I mute the strings, just reduces.
I might be a little paranoid here, but I'm pretty sure the knobs don't make a difference right? Afterall they're just pieces of plastic!
Anyone kind enough to offer a diagnosis? Is this a shielding or grounding issue?
Or are the single coils just acting up with the 60-cycle hum?
