i was just wondering does it matter if theres a gap at the joint between the neck and the body. Will it affect the tone? hope these pics helps

Thanks

I believe it does.

but of more concern is, why your neck pup, which looks like a Duncan Invader, is so close to the strings?

yup its close...i guess its because of the protuding pole piece..
abt the gap...i heard that it may affect the sustain ..thats all
then again im no expert in this field..:)

will it do anything harmful if its too close? its not an invader..just an unknown stock pickup. i think its not as close as you guys see..should be due to the camera angle.

does changing new neck solve the prob or does the prob lies with the body?

Do you play that high up enough for it to be a worry?

Do the sustain test. Play on those "suspended" frets.

Issues? No? Yes?

To me it looks like its simply a fingerboard overhang.

It allows the guitar to have 24 frets.

Nothing to worry about.

shredcow: yeap i do play till that high for some song. i will give the sustain test a try. thanks for the advice

jony: what does it mean by fretboard overhang?

If you take off the neck.. Its merely a piece of wood that extends past the main frame of the neck heel. If it didnt have that piece... I'd imagine the guitar would be left with 23 frets only.

But of more concern is what phone camera are you using? those pic are crap?! sorry....old man with bad eyesight don't need more eye tests

Yup, no issue to me. Fender uses this method on all their American Standard Strats to extend their previously vintage 21 fret necks to 22 in the 80's.

if its stock, its probably a duncan detonator, which is based on the invader
