Nano keys issues

Another one, hope someone could offer their expertise on this

I recently bought a nanokeys korg.

The keys comes with a software called M1 Le Workstation.

My issue is, on how to get the sound from M1 Le workstation to the Ableton Live

and using the sound I want from M1 Le to record live at ableton.

Anyone could help me here?

1) Install the nano series driver in your comp

2) Connect the nanokey to comp, point the driver installed earlier to the nano key and installed 2nd time, so that live can see the nanokey as nanokey instead of usb device.

for the above, refer to korg site for info. The above need to be done first, if not within live, midi preference folder, you wont see the korg nanokey, instead, being listed as usb device

once done, make sure that m1 le is being installed in your comp and knowing where is the folder that you stored your vsti.

Open live now, you should see the live broswer on the left side of the screen. Look for the m1 le installed earlier. You should find it among the folders in live broswer where you have all your vsti or folder which your m1 le is being installed.

After than, open your live midi preference folder. You should see nano key listed among there, activate the track option for "input-nanokey"

once done, close the midi preference page, go back to live session view.

Locate the m1 le vsti files within live broswer, drag it into empty midi track(by default, live template will have 1 midi and 1 audio track).

Once done, select the midi input from mi le in the track which you dragged the m1 le into. Audio should be out to master. PLay the nano key, you should hear the sound. which you triggered from nano keys

to record, arm the 'track arming" button, click record.

Appreciate loads mate.

I have managed to load my M1 Le into live.

Awesome.

Now for the next headache, seems like my nano kontrol isn't functioning in live.

Any cue on this?

no prob, was stuck with the same issue sometime back as well.

For nanokontrol, i mentioned in the other thread, you have to activate the track/remote within preference, midi sync folder for the "input-nanokonrtol"

The idea is that by activating those, you can send a midi signal from the nanokontrol "into live and control the various controls(play stop track arm, volume, effect on/off etc) via midi mapping.

once activated, you can select on the midi mapping icon on top right of live, those parameters that can be midi mapped, will turn blue. Select any of the controls in live you want to map it to nanoknotrol, turn a knob/press a button/adjust slider on nanokontrol, you should see a number appearing on the control you have selected. If your live browser is open, you can see the details of the midi mapping as well, which control is mapped to which note number etc.

the track, sync, remote within midi preference page for the following function(taken from ableton forum)

SYNC == clock signal
TRACK == instrument stuff
REMOTE == transport etc

with other midi controller, its the same as well, you will have to activate either track or remote within the midi preference page.

An exception to above is when the midi controller has its own remote script within live which you just need to select the model of the midi controller under the control surface in live midi preference, select the input and output and the controller can be used straight away.

For more info on remote script for korg nano series, check out pages below. Theres interesting info in there..

Freakin awesome.

I managed to assign some of the stuff to ableton.

Just having troubles with the toggle/momentary.

Appreciate yourhelp once again mate,

You've been a great help!

Cheers!

toggle and momentary is for changing the behavious/reaction of the pad

toggle is when you wanna the pad to- press one time, it send the first midi message, press another time, it send a 2nd message.

for momentary, when you press and hold the pad, it will send the message, but moment when you released it, a 2nd message will be sent to indicate the release pressure on the pad.

toggle or momentary, if not wrong, the nanoseries factory default setting will function as what its supposed to do out from the box, there wont be much need to change those, unless you wanna assign your own setting/controls on how you wanna use the controller with live.

Yeah I figured that out as well as I try,

Pretty neat stuff mate.

Been having quite a time with the nano series, awaiting my collection for nanopad.

Stoked!

Cheers again mate, let's close this thread.
