hi guys, took out all my strings and put back cause im too bored. clean my bass also. now after i restringed the bass, my G string will have a "vibrating" sound when i play it. sound like the string vibrating against something. sound comes from the bottom part, bridge or saddle, im not sure.

before the restring theres no such problem. whats wrong?

anyway i took out all the strings altogether. is it that the neck has bend?

I encounter this before.

Try checking the G string saddle on the bridge, one of the 2 screws on the saddle may be loose.

Assuming that "vibrating sound" = buzzing, check for a loose screw/part.

If it's not from the bridge area, then I'm guessing that the cause of the sound could be due to your G-string not being seated on the nut properly.

Which could mean either one of these 2 things...

1. You forgot to string it under the string tree (if your bass has a string tree)

OR

2. You didn't string it back properly and the end of the wind is too high up the string post

And no, your neck does not have the bends. I think that only applies to scuba divers.

On a separate note, this forum needs a grammar checker. It took me 3 reads to understand what you were saying.

radiohead also has the bends

my bass has something like that, but on the E string. checked everything, it's all as tight as... i thought i was going crazy

right now i'm guessing it's the sound of the SPRING on the bridge saddle screw... well there's nothing i can do about that then. but the pickups don't pick it up so all's well that ends well

My E string has the vibrating problem too! It's like the string keep snap or hit the Frets and made buzzz sound irritating mehhh

buzz caused by string rattling against the frets can be easily rectified by adjusting the action and in some cases the bow of the neck

in my case it is clearly the sound of something loose which is vibrating... but it's not really noticeable and it almost never comes out during normal play

My friend, electric guitar, after he restring, his E string, also got the buzzing sound! He said it was damn irritating, I don't know what can it be done on my bass haha

listen closely and find out where the buzz is coming from. You'll hear the rattling from one point of the fretboard. And when you look closely you'll see your string hitting the fret when you play. I would suspect it's the lower frets, from the first to the fifth.

Yup probably your neck moved a little, or your string guage is greater than your previous one.

Just tweak your saddles a little. If you ever (it's a big if) decide to adjust your trussrod do it minimally, and note the change will take awhile to happen (don't turn it more just because the buzz doesn't stop, you'll mess up your whole action in the end).

PM me if I'm right and need a more detailed explanation on the solution, will be glad to help (:

thanks guys! i readjusted the position of the saddle(downward), cant feel the vibration unless i pick the Gstring really hard. u guys can try. simple and easy.
