hi, jus wonderin where's musicman sub bass made?? isit korea?? is sub series the cheaper series of musicman (like LTD & ESP, gibson & epiphone, fender & squier)? hows the quality of sub series??

SUB models are made in USA. they are much more affordable mainly due to the satin finish, very much why the Fender Highway1 series are budget friendly. it's by no means the entry level version of other MM offerings, if you are looking for these, then the OLP are the ones you should audition.

the SUB basses offer impressive craftsmanship, playability & tone, reflecting the american make, only cynics & snobs would dismiss these models citing compromised finish as a mark down the much revered Stigray/ Sterling/ models.

the SUB1 guitars would be here very soon- ordered one myself 8)

well ...davis brings it in ..

SINAMEX lists itself as the AUTHORISED dealer for musicman stuff BUT ... hehehehe ... they carried only the stingrays... not too sure about the sub basses

hi bro 8) i actually own the SUB bass, but it's currently being loaned out to my dad (permanently) who finds the humbucking pickup rather irresistable.

SUB bass (4-string):
Passive- $980
Active- $1,280

these days, even if it's made in china, there's a certain standard in construction that's inherent. the thing is, people are too particular about the country of origin as they believe it's the final word in quality- not quite. however, the average equipment owner feels more secure if they acquire instrument which are made in certain countries but it's more hype than anything else. take Fender for instance, their Mexican & Jap versions are as good as their american counterparts.

i got my SUB bass from Davis about a year ago, the reason why you don't see them any more there is because they are snapped up. if you are keen on one, get ready for the next shipment in about 3 weeks. this time round, there'll be the SUB1 guitars as well. the SUB bass was a pleasant experience for me, the reason i have faith in the guitars as well.

hi stars, didnt see any stringrays in sinamex leh...but saw sum dean 5 string bass wif EMGs quite nice lookin design

thks sub. i understand abt the country of origin part. but prob is wld u pay $1k++ if the gtr iz made in china or indonesia??

haf dis thought when i mention to my fren dat i juz bought a korean made washburn WI66pro (comes wif ZW EMGs & hardcase) from USA. the gtr cost 1.1k plus GST. den he said y buy such an expensive korean made gtr. although i felt the gtr was quite well made :D . but cant help to haf dis feelin...

some people are mere snobs, they put down the guitar because it's not made where they wanted it to be... Marty Friedman plays Korean Ibanez SZ models & he's fine...

i'm saving up for the Ibanez SZ2020 which lists for $2K & it's Korean... why do i bother? because it's a fine guitar...

I saw a Squire P bass tagged at $495 at Swee Lee. Made in China. I dont know if they can grow Agathis there, but if they can, cheap what!! :P

chinese products do not necessarily use chinese wood. i know selected Squiers using Indonesian/ Indian wood (especially mahogany)...

it seems like all ibanez gtrs are korean made now, even $2k gtr like sz2020 iz MIK. i though the high end ibanez shd be MIJ?? 2020 got nice body but i prefer 720's radical fret inlays\m/ 8)

wasup wif the walnut neck material???

nope, not the entire offering is Korean. selected Prestige models + signature series are Japanese (under new maker- J-Craft) eg: RG321

Bumped into Rex Goh during the recent Saturday Night Fever shows at the Esplanade... he's using a Korean made Ibanez too and he sounds fantastic! Don't underestimate Korean made stuff...

seems like korean gtrs r quite up to da standard in the general crowd. but i find da korean made epiphone not really up to da standard

Korean?

Quality is one part of the equation. I have mostly USA guitars but also have just bought a Korean Squier Precision bass, and it is great. Finish is good, playability is good, tuners are a bit crappy and pickups are OK. Value for money is overall excellent.
Depends on what you are looking for!. However if I want my instruments to hold their value I buy USA. It isn't snob value it's market value. Reason they are cheaper in the first place is labour costs and some parts used such as "Duncan designed pickups" rather than original Seymour Duncans. You get what you pay for.!

depends on the factory and manufacturer imo. epiphone changed their factory to another in Korea, and opened one in China.

The old manufacturer has since made their own instruments, called Shine guitars. You can see them at www.luthierguitar.com (i hate their designs however. someone send them to aesthetics 101.)

it's really subjective. there are non-US guitars which hold value very well, an example being the 'lawsuit' Ibanez units. value has a human element to it, if you deem it to be valueable, regardless of where it's made, then it's simply valueable.
