well..i juz wish to play some piece of chinese music,,with a piano..i love e sound of piano..heard my friend play b4..this is..so will it affect it if i take classical lesson> :?:

Wow! Finally after sooooooooo long , my very own clone!

Well since you mentioned that you love the sound of the piano , why not go learn it?

But I have to tell you , most music schools who teach piano are generally exam based which is just like your typical school exam. Few days before exam chiong like siao that kind of thing lah....

Another thing I would like to know is your committment level towards the piano? Can you guage your interest level in wanting to learn the piano? I admire your level of enthuism but I'm afraid that once you take piano lessons , you might feel disappointed because although how many pop stars we see today who play the piano with much ease , piano playing takes lots of years of hardwork and discipline even for the talented ones. Are you willing to spend years horning a craft?

You may think that playing the piano is all about "ding dong ding dong ding ding dong" and nothing more than that but there is more to piano playing that those ding dongs such as learning to apply different forms of touches , phrasing , theory (with practical application) , keeping in time etc.

So once again , I would like to know , despite your enthuism in wanting to learn the piano , are you willing to spend years of hard work and discipline horning the craft of playing the piano?

Sorry if I may sound like a party pooper to you but I feel that when it comes to playing the piano , hardwork and discipline is primary while enthuism is secondary , well at least that's what I've come to realise.

   but out of 3 i MAINLY only use one..and tts the pedal on the furthest right which happens to be my favourite pedal(die la learn piano so long and i even forgot the name of that pedal! )..

the pedal sustains..but according to wat i learn its not CALLED sustain pedal wat..damn it i forgot what i learn during the past 10 years..

well..i think i will go for keyboard...

doubleblade..thx for telling me all this..i know it b4 i make decision..actually i am interested in keyboard more..to realli say hw much i like i duno..all i know i wan to learn a keyboard 3 to 4 yrs ago..but reject by parents, i onli start to fall in love with piano sound 1 yrs back... :D

Err... just to clear a few misconceptions on words. Keyboard in general terms = any instrument with black and white keys (ie it includes the piano, various types of organs, digital keyboards like synths and digital pianos etc). Otherwise, you'll end up with all sorts of confusing and different interpretations.

I think the question to ask is what genre you want to learn.

hi,

you can try learning at The Art of Music, just behind Meridien Hotel. very near Dobby Ghaut Mrt.

They have pop keyboard lessons for people of all levels. I've been there myself and the teachers are very helpful and friendly. do go check it out

theres a website.

www.theartofmusic.com.sg.

Hope it helps!

i agree piano is abit need patience to learn and pick up de..haha

aniwae if i noe how to ply piano , will i find difficulty in plying on keyboard or sync ? ..~~DEStiny

Maybe you won't get used to the unweighted keys initially. At least that's what happened to me when I got myself the Triton, the keys felt very plastic-y and un-natural because I have been used to playing the piano for many years. But after getting used to it, it shouldn't pose much of a problem.
