Music Piracy

I have a good friend recording an album. he has some metal connections in Aus so his stuff will probably be sold in metal specialist stores. Becuase he is doing all the wrok himself, he will get all the profit, thus why I will buy his cd but becuase im his friend, he refuses to sell it to me and is giving it for free.
well, downloading is one thing. You come and see Indonesia, my country..haha..where mp3 cds are EVERYWHERE for sale. Imagine. 100odd songs, compiled in different ways, in one CD, for less than ONE BUCKs. haha.... that's piracy here. DVD9s for the same price, well, its tempting!
i'm guilty of downloading music, but, if i like the artist, i'll still go buy the CD after i download. and most of the stuff i don't like? well..the trash bin is always there isn't it?

i think that the file sharing has its pros and cons.
the pros are that if you're a young band starting out. you can easily get your music out there and disribute it to virtually every part of the world.
however, the cons are that your record companies are soon going to be few and far between. why have a record company when people aren't buying your Cds? even the fact that you can buy songs for 99 cents each doesn't really help the cause because the records companies are still at a disadvantage.
so what i think is that the file sharing should be used to distribute tracks which are not able to download on a computer harddisk. that way people can listen to the song, preview it. and make a decision as to whether to purchase the compact disk.

Cds can be really ex sometimes~~ but we dare see we are fans of the artistise~~ we shld be willing to burn a little hole in our pockets cuz he/she has helped touch us or at least make our world a more~~ eerrr~~ musical place?
