(I don't know if there's a thread like this before.)

More and more people are addicted to music and many phone brands like nokia, sony ericsson and even samsung and apple got their own music brand.
Nokia got the XpressMusic branding, Sony ericsson got the Walkman branding and samsung got the Live Loud.. Apple is iPod. So which brand got the best audio quality for playing music?

I have the samsung i450 and it's quite okay.. I am eye-ing the iphone or the new nokia 5800..

I think it also depends on your music and earphones quality...don't really like touch screen phones. They seem to take a lot of time to get used to..

I've been a user of SE walkman phones for quite awhile..
sound quality is good, and it's pretty decent. tends to be a bit laggy though (opening folders and whatnot)
my friend gave me his 2G iphone.. and honestly the speakers.. are crap.
they are fine at low to mid volume, but turn them to about 70 percent and the sounds fizzle.

the 3g iphone isn't THAT much better either.

SE phones are laggy. I've got another G900. and it lags like 123456. I don't know why walkman phones are called music phones when they only have a few more custom presets like megabass... and don't even have a 3.5mm headphone jack!!!!!!

haha best solution is to have 2 separate devices: 1 for phone and 1 for music playing. so you dont have to worry about sound quality and stuff like that.

ditto for camera phones, though camera technology seems to be improving far faster than the music phone technology.

Nokia ... bad Xperience  with this brand of phone.
Send mine for repair for 4 times already.

Moron told me if the phone ko for the 3rd time, they will do a 1-on-1 exchange BUT when went there, they say cannot. Even got 1 lady argue with their staff say the same thing and she have send her phone 5 times for repair!

Better get china phone from sim lim, got tv somemore!!

yeah china phone got tv,but no warranty here,if spoil den must buy new one..
Have to agree with SE phones are laggy..mine always lags badly when i switch on my phone,or when i play music and sms at the same time..

generally, what i've noticed, the Walkman phones are louder(at max volume), compared to all other SE phones.

one of the other reason ah.

if i'm not wrong, the nokia phones have the headphone jack right?

My Sony Ericsson Walkman phone have a tendency to lag, but it seems to be the best out there.

And honestly speaking, sound quality is still bleh, IMO.

Hence, I use a separate Sony Walkman MP3 player for my music. Solves everything. Hah!

I used to have a music edition N73, but I switched to SE. I like the megabass. With a good headphone it sounds just brilliant. It lags when starting up, but other than that it's great. Metal casing lets it tank damage like ... I dunno, but it has survived my punishment for lagging so far (though the 0 key nearly came off :p)

Anyway the N series lags worse. (After just 2 years, it took me like 10-15 seconds to open messaging via the main menu shortcut.

I have had very good experiences with my past 2 phones, N70 and N82. Don't think i will switch to any other brands soon, except windows mobile 6.5 in future.

If you keep your messages to less than 300 or so, there shdnt be any lag in the inbox. And just like PCs, i flash/format my phone every year. One of the reason i'm using the n82 is for the gps. Its super useful for me. Some phones have gps but need wifi to access it. Thus without a data plan you are gonna spend loads of money on google maps etc..

Sound quality wise, its more than enough for the daily commute to school. The ipod would feel and sound better but i find the itunes syncing a hassle so i dont use my ipod anymore..

Just my experience!

best is that you don't buy a music phone, just buy a dedicated MP3 player. easier
I would tend to agree if I had more pockets and less annoyance from technology.

I never bothered about phones but I needed one that at least had the functions of a music player, so I gots meself a walkman phone too.

Caveats: Slow UI, No customisability due to lack of support from telcos and Moto's declining reputation

Pros: Stylish, Highly-active modding community

Never buy this if you're not into modding. Maybe that's a little too harsh but you can see for yourself (most stores have it, but no contracts since end of last year). If Starhub has it, it'll be dirt cheap on plan because nobody knows about it. Otherwise 3-400 dollars.

sia la. that fone looks quite cool

but one thing i tend to notice is that dedicated MP3s tend to have far superior sound quality then handphones. handphones tend to be too much of an all in one, with two many technologies to handle at the same time. Touch-screens, Cameras, GPS, Music, etc., are some of the technologies that they have to handle simultaneously. Yes, it's an all-in-one, but it's also a jack-of-all-trades-and-expert-in-none also

Yet again, it also depends on exactly how picky you are about your stuff.

I don't do very much of photography, just point and shoot and get a relatively clear photo is good enough for me, and rarely do i use cameras. That's why my phone doubles as my camera when i'm out and about. Whereas, I'm picky about the quality of my music, therefore such phones aren't good enough for me.

Eventually, its up to the consumer to decide what he wants la i guess
