Moving to the US!

Does anybody has have any experience in moving to the US?
I was thinking of continuing my studies in the US, get a student Visa, and hopefully one day work there. Or maybe finding an internship job there and getting a Work Visa. Or getting married and having a Green Card.

Basically, I want to get out of here and stay in the united states by almost any means necessary.

Does anybody have any experience or suggestions?

Hey bro,

I moved to Toronto, Canada last year to pursue my undergrad degree. It's a pretty big change in terms of the environment and everything. It's a very nice experience and you can assimilate the new culture slowly.

But then you'll very soon realize how great a country Singapore is in terms of its efficiency, public transport, services etc. You'll start comparing everything back with Singapore. but oh well, you'll find out when you get there.

May i ask which part of the US and which institution you'll be studying at?

Cheers

Yup, I know this and am prepared for this. I do not hate Singapore one bit. In fact, I love the little things we take for granted, like our transport and safety and the FOOD! But a nice cultural change would bring some color back into the experience of living. Meeting new people, experiencing new experiences. It's always been a joy for me, and living in Singapore for most all of my life has made that feeling a bit 'stale'. Not BAD Stale, just a tad bit 'been there, done that'. I will never abandon Singapore completely, but I am looking for that change in life.

I'm looking to moving to California or Portland or one of the coastal states.

Been in LA for 5 years.

Been in LA for the last 5 years. Studied, interned, worked in the music/entertainment industry. PM me if you need more info. I know Hollywood/Los Angeles pretty well if you need to know more.

I can totally understand you, infact I've been through that exact same feeling. All the best for your future mate.

On a more serious note, strangely I have exactly the same idea as bobby.

In a year or two, I really hope to have saved enough money for a one year stay in the US.

Haven't decided if I will study there and hopefully work part-time (heard studying there can be very expensive) or just take in the sights and stay in a totally different place for a year.

What do you think is the best estimate for the amount of money I should have to sustain myself in the States?
