hi,

anyone know where to get motion sound products in singapore?

secondly, for all the keyboard players out there, what kind of amplification do you use? i play mostly at home and i'm searching for a keyboard amp, but it seems like the range of keyboard amps available here is quite limited.

any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated.

If you play mostly at home, you probably don't need an amp. You'd be better off with stereo monitor speakers. And good headphones of course.

the Peavey KB150 keyboard amp at swee lee is quite alright if you are a performing musician on the road and want to carry something light.

However, if it's just for home use, then using your home hi fi as an amp is much better because of the full range frequencies available, compared to the normal amps in the market.

thanks for the replies.

i actually aspire to gig in the future, and i'm not so sure what my amplification options are.. what's the norm for gigging keyboardists in singapore in say small-medium clubs? do you run direct to pa, or rely on the keyboard amp, and what are the implications?

hope someone can enlighten me thanks.

for medium size gigs (100-200), the peavey amp I was referring to earlier works fine. Plugging into the main house system of course, means bigger sound and all, but it is highly dependent on a few things before your sound gets out there all nice and big.

1st: The sound system itself. Most medium size gigs have mediocre to average sound systems. Anything that sounds good are probably in professional pubs and clubs...unless someone had the money and the expertise to rent/buy good systems.

2nd: The sound engineer. 2/3rds of the sound 'engineers' I have worked with in both private and public venues, really, honestly, are in need of some serious re-training. I can give you a long list of horror egs.

So, to play safe, always bring your own amp. Just in case you get into trouble with the 1st 2 points I mentioned.
