more floyd rose question

i have a few more question about my flyd rose and i will try to explain as much as possible. i been looking around and the ILT (yes it sucks i know) is probably ibanez's lowest end locking tremolo.

first question is this probably the reason why my 6th string drops all the way to "d" sometimes when i do about 10 full pull ups?.

second question is what can i replace it with? (i probably have to save up more.. or see how much it cost first than maybe it could be more beneficial to buy a new guitar lol)

Thanks

Since you are saying your 6th string only, either the hi E or Lo E, your locking nut is either not tight enough OR the locking nut is worn.

It wouldn't make sense for you to replace just the nut when the ILT is a horrid trem.

Do a search for Gotoh Floyd Rose. Its the best replacement for it... only 125USD. A Softie here, Tany, has replaced his ILT (yes, JEM Jr) with the Gotoh and he can't be happier.

only thing is a jem jr has longer cavity so i MIGHt have to do some wood work (which i am no expert in and yea i dont want a deformed guitar -.-)

o and im trying to wait and find any second hand bridge... what is the likely hood of someone selling those >.< coz i dont work and i wont wanna keep asking my parents for money.. and i don have a job not coz im lazy its coz its hard to find one when ure a foreigner and below 16 >.>

Well, you MIGHT have to route a little. The only other bridge that has a smaller footprint would be a Schaller, you can get 1 @ Guitar Connection for $350-ish. About $100 more than the Gotoh (if you include shipping on the GOtoh).

2nd hand Gotoh? None. No one in SOFT wanted to buy them the last time I tried, and people here would rather:

a) Buy a new guitar
b) Live with it

2nd hand OFR? Ibanez Edge? Nope. Very rare. Ebay is your only hope.

My JEM-JR got a crack under the bridge, tech told me last resort is changing the whole body lol.. sad case ( As good as getting a new guitar :\, considering I'm still using that ILT bridge)

But I believe if you can manage to change to bridge like gotoh... everything changes with the experience with jem-jr..

i like my JEM JR because of the neck and the construction. mine's a 2004 model and i think it's nicer than the ones now. i changed the trem to a gotoh, was lucky to get it 2nd hand at $100. so now it's damn stable, although have to tune like 2 weeks or so

XJAPAN, did you go see Malcom about it?

tany, 2 week then tune is NOT a minus man! :) Hehehe.... good trems = stability. And tell us abt the improvement to tone man.

Daniel tot u managed to sold the gotoh?
if its still available do PM me...coz im thinking of getting a replacement for my ibanez trem...

itachi46 ur problrm kinda weird..u do a pull up and its detune to D...
im not familiar with ur kinda trem...perhaps the trem is not seated properly???

My Gotoh is long gone. :) I have the saddles though.. :) So for those who wanna upgrade the saddles, I have a set of 6. :P

And why would you want to swap your Ibanez Edge trem out? Lo Pro right? That thing is better than the Gotoh in terms of feel. Ibanez Edge and Lo Pro trems are legendary. I'd advice you to keep it or buy a new one from Rich. Or just buy a set of lo pro saddles.

Nope. Not with them. Waiting for another Viper thats on the way. The Custom neck and new Viper are with white bobbins and (yes) gold (indeed) poles. How beng and bling can that be?!

I am abt to embark on an interesting modification and if it turns out good, i'll share with all you S series/SC/SA users...
