Tried the Alesis Micron and Voyager in Turnkey @ Charing Cross.
Prefer the Alesis. Could be the fact that it sounds more modern and is polyphonic. Really phat sounds from a keyboad that is about the size of your computer keyboard.

Voyager sounds a little dated to my ears and the headphone volume seems to change from patch to patch. Extremely loud on some sounds.

Also tried the Clavia G2 Keys. Sounds very nice and very close to some Prophet 5 sounds. Can sounds fat (but not as fat as the Micron) and thin. But always with a tinge of creaminess and richness in the sounds.

Most ordinary music listeners can't tellthe difference between real analogue and virtual analogue in a blind test anyway. So I'll take the VA over RA this time.

Didn't buy the Micron though cause I bought the Novation KS-Rack. The KS-Rack is not as phat as the Micron but sounds excellent for pads because of its relative thiness of the sounds. It was about Sin$750 after VAT refund. Sinamex quoted me about $800++ for the Micron so I guess I'll looking out for that soon.

So much gear, so little time.

KORG legacy

hi ALL,

besides MOOG and ALESIS ion and andromeda,
anyone tried or bought KORG LEGACY ???

does it comes out to be the same as the real thing?
MS-20, Wavstation and PolySix?
City music right now selling at $980.

Does it sounds as FAT as MOOG and ALESIS analog synth mentioned above?

Not that I recall.
The Ion/Micron really sounds fat for their price. I prefer their sounds to the Moog.

ps - for softsynth fatness, I think the best has to be the Arturia Moog V. Check out the demo here: www.arturia.com
Gonna buy it one day ...

But if you are going for variety, you may want to try this:
http://www.ultimatesoundbank.com/usb/exec/ultrafocus

Very expensive (~$800 to 900?) for a sample library but looks like a very extensive one of old synths. There's also a demo.

But remember, fatness isn't everything if it clashes with or drowns out all the other sounds.
