Modded Pedals

Since CNY is almost over...I'm thinking of getting some new pedals with my $$$

Problem is....I don't really know what pedal to get....

So I was thinking more on the lines of a DS-1...But I would like it modded

So where do I go to get it modded?

Or better, is there any place that sells already modded pedals?

Thanks!

WELL SAID!

well i suggest u spend time researching, asking questions, and trying out different pedals.

there's a hell lot more to just an orange little ds1

It's easy to start with popular pedals cause of the product support.. Most boutique stuff are abit more chim and tweakable =D for lack of a better word

acherly ar, whats with the mindset with distortion=ds1 ? there are a myriad of other dirt effects out there like the "rat" clan of distortion, e.g the FKR by beavis audio im still waiting upon, or even a mix of distortion and overdrive like the lovepedal eternity, or for those who find that out of the budget, there's the modded bd-2 or even the m.i audio line of dirt effects.

just a thought, why ds1?

there is this special aura about a ds1 la.

for those who actually own one will know it.

some like it some dont.

I have a ds1 switchblade by randolf. It is a great pedal now. the tones
that it throws out are amazing.

one thing i have against the ds1 is no matter how you mod it. it lacks the
cutting edge when its switched on.
but this can be solved with a booster before or after your ds1 unit.

:D

the FKR by beavis audio

Me too. Sian, going to be a long wait, but that's good, then can save up, 180USD right? The new circuitboards and stuff look great!

The main reason for the ds1's popularity.......

1) Marketing
2) Hype
3) Its actually quite okay
4) Moddable to the nines

:smt011 haha errr.. no... i have owned a MIT one, had it modded by broedderbro for more bass resonance and the dampening of the harshness of the sound that my ears do not like.

but this can be solved with a booster before or after your ds1 unit.

:smt018 nope, wrong again. no amount of boost can make a stock ds1 sound remotely nice. YMMV

HOWEVER

after saying this, i did read an article on how distortion units are actually meant to be used. ppl tend to get negative results when they use it as their sole source of "gain". i.e guitar->ds1->SS amp.

apparently, i think the optimum way to use the ds1 to its maximum capability is to use it to saturate or to further drive an ALREADY overdriven amp. ala Vai.

eh onz la, when the time comes, we order together, split shipping la! :smt023

haha, still bitter eh.

actually if you still to one pedal for long. I can guarantee its possible to squeeze something special outta it eventually. Coz towards the end, you have overcome the limitations of that piece of equipment to come up with ideas outta limitless effort.

But sadly, most of us including me, fail to utilise on this ability which i think everyone has but yet overlook in this age of internet forums and other form of distractions.
