damn it. i really really hate it when people say metal is noise or rock music in general is bullshit or satanic which is a whole load of crap. well i tell u what. whenever people say that. i say they themselves are bullshit. in anycase a great song is just a great song. people labelling hallowed be thy name, stairway to heaven as satanic songs and all is all bullshit. A great song is by far just a great song. how would the lads from ironmaiden and ledzep feel when people call their songs satanic.
in any case. imo. the public is far too superficial and and is crazy to stereotype people who listens to metal as satanic. Metal is jus a very raw way of expressing a person's views thru hard hitting riffs and powerful drum beats, at least IMO. haha
anyway. IRON MAIDEN STILL ROCKS. dont give a shit about what your teacher said. how narrow minded.

firstly, many perceptions of metal are glaringly erronous. Devil music - as many people believe. but it's not...at least not of those lot of bands today. Seldom really practise what they preach. In some cases, they can sing about God, and is not often derogatory.

actually there are some songs that can seem satanic on the surface. therefore, it makes the public think that the artist theselves are satanic. that's the main misconception.
for example, sepultura has a song called "anti-christ" from their album bestial devastation. it clearly illustrates the glorification of satan and celebrates the birth of the long awaited spawn of lucifer. however, many do not know that max cavalera and crew are devout christians.
on the other hand, a certain king diamond has no apologies for being satanist and claims to own a copy of the satanic bible. so there.

Let me write something on black metal.
The usual public will always comment on their scary-looking corpsepaint and their spikes, their leather and they being all not friendly and Devil-worshipping or beng angry for nothing. But the public - usually ignorant and not choosing to try to understand or accept what is not mainstream, has failed to realised the reason why the Bm people does that.
Black metal is predominantly active in Norsk countries, like Norway, Sweden, Finland etc during its early stages, inspired by bands like Vemon (with their song, Black Metal), Bathory etc. Let me do some history lesson. During the Roman empire era, Emperor Constantine legalised Christianity in the entire of Europe, overthrowing old pagan/wiccan/norsk gods and religions. The intellectuals who actually read stuff instead of being brainwashed by the society, realised that fact of being overthrowed of their own homeland's cultures, got furious and wanted to express themselves through music.
Christianity - White. So against Christianity equals black metal lor. Yups.
But that was the basic idea of Black Metal. They apply on corpsepaint and wear spikes and leather to express their 'spiritual' death and their sorrows and pains. It's not being pointlessly angry or angsty. Unlike the current trends of emos.
So, the public should shut up and dun look things at the surface, dumb asses.
If metal is bad, what is rap? Rap advocates sex, drugs, shooting at your girlfriend. Metal is just about the agressiveness, the suppressed emotions, the urge to break free, the majesty of the norsk landscape, the urge to let the world know what they wanted to say, that's all!
Best of best, just enjoy metal! Don't think too much and just savour the music. Music is to entertain.

If you are.. wow, thats great that you're so passionate about ur repression. But wasnt this part of history like eons ago?
Anyhow, if you are not of the "Norsk" blood line, are you not then simply COPYING someone elses expression of "express[ing] their 'spiritual' death"?
