Minor electric shocks when bridge is touched. Power adapter problem ?

I'm currently using a strat .. When my pedals are running on the " 1 spot " adapter, sometimes, when my arm touches the bridge, i'll get a very minor shock .. Does anyone know what is wrong ? I've never encountered this problem when i was using batteries for my effects pedals but when i switched to the " 1 spot " adapter, i'm always getting minor shocks when my arm touches the bridge .. Hope you can help !

I personally experienced similar issues with my Onespot. I felt a mild current whenever I touched the casing of my pedal, so I've come to distrust the quality of Onespots. No offense to other Onespot users but I've used one and felt my safety compromised. It was also very noisy. Hum and feedback almost as loud as my guitar itself.

I've never heard of the current flowing all the way to the guitar's bridge, though. My guitar's also strat-style but I did not encounter any current on my guitar itself, but I encountered it with my distortion pedal. Now, I'm using a $25 Biyang adapter from Standard Value (been using it for over a year now) and no problems at all.

MY amp isn't grounded .. There's no way it can be since it's a 2 pin plug amp without an earth wire .. My friend has the same amp, not grounded and is also using the the 1 spot adapter but he isn't experiencing any problems .. Really wonder what is wrong .. Should i get another adapter?

Has it got to do with the induced current? The cutting of magnetic flux produced by the pickups and the guitar strings...

perhaps you should try grounding your amp first, to see if its the problem, even if it isnt, its still a good precaution

im having the same problem... whenever my arm touches the bridge of the guitar, i will experience a shock.... and my amp is a 2-pin amp... can we just buy an adapter and just make it into a 3 pin to solve the problem?

Nope it wont work, even though the adaptor is 3 pin the plug for the amp is not, so there still isnt any ground

Lhama: He didn't even mention what amplifier he's using. How do you know it sucks?

To the TS:
Perhaps you could try grounding the amp, but if not, I'd also recommend a new adapter. I don't know why I almost got killed by mine but others are having no issues with it, but if I were you I'd get a new adapter - not a Onespot, unless you get the opportunity to test it at the shop and make sure it isn't faulty.

just get a better amp cos it sucks.
its prolly a small shitty amp, which in turn gives shitty tone
and we all know that tone = fingers>amp>effects>pickups+guitar

the point: the small amp not being grounded.
your rambling of the amps tone is out of point.

besides, i'm experiencing the same problem and im using a marshall AVT20 (not big but also not "small" and "shitty") with a prs custom 24 and a boss ME 50 along with other analogue pedals
i suspect the problem is with my pedal power source. some ibanez power adaptor thing which i connect to the boss pedals (compatible)

Furthermore, my small amp is a two-pin, and no problems. I've been using it for years. Just because it is a two-pin, doesn't mean it sucks and causes these kind of problems.

I still doubt it's the two-pin causing the problem...

The reason you get shock is because you or the guitar/amp/pedal
have different ground potential.

because of this difference, a charge can jump from the guitar to
you or vice versa.

So, the final word on this, is to just follow what everyone is saying.
Get you amp grounded, or get your setup grounded one way or another.

another scenario of shock:
just the other day, while soldering..
felt acute tremor from pot transmitted thru guitar body..
i guess culprit conductor must've been the metallic finish.. hehe

Lol . Thanks ! I'll have to get a new amp then. My amp doesn't have an earth wire so there's no way i can change to two pin plug into a three pin .. Maybe i'll go get a new adapter. Any recommendation on what adapter i should get ? Has anyone encountered any problems with the Godlyke adapter?
