Anyone knows where it might still be sold in SG? Think its too old tech, I've checked Sinamex and they do not stock these anymore, other music stores like yamaha as well. Another question is do Midi to USB calbes function in exactly the same way? I need the cables to connect the Behringer FCB1010 to my com.

sorry can't help you here, the last time I saw midi cables for sale was collecting dust at some electronics shop, so you might wanna scout around all music shops in singapore first, then the electronic cable shops. and ya it's too old tech I had a midi controller which I wanted to connect to my old presonus interfaces, ended up buying off a friend

Midi cables is not old tech. They are still used everyday to connect between midi devices, which is not necessary a computer. I'm pretty sure Swee Lee has them.

Hung Brothers @ Sim Lim Square carries Proco cables. They keep a wide range of cables with different connectors and length. you can try there if you really can't find your midi cables. In fact, there are still many electronics equipment that need midi to midi cables. even those new audio interfaces. they still has midi in/ out.

Networking is not new. FX-Max, VSL etc are all using it to create VST farms - not just transferring of midi data, but audio streams as well at the same time, thereby eliminating the need of any midi and audio interfaces. The challenge is to make the technology a standard that can be adopted across the board.

heh, indeed indeed, that, is prolly one thing which gonna take a long long while.

Ranking Sports has cheap $5 molded ones. The little store downstairs at peace centre near maccas also sell the same $5 ones.

I'm not really sold on OSC. There is no standard way for two different OSC devices to know what to send each other. So you need to a whole crap load of configuring to make them talk. MIDI works because when you plug a keyboard into a module and press middle C, the module will play a middle C. The other problem is you need an ethernet port and a UDP network stack to implement OSC. This is more expensive and more time consuming to develop than the UART needed for Midi. Half the manufacturers can't develop decent usb midi drivers..how do you think they will go implementing OSC?

The lil store is called novelty music. Midi to USB cables, idk. But i use some for direct input, maybe it's a bit lag sometimes but other than that, fine...
