ok, i've been thinking of doing vocal recordings for my band's tracks which are currently instrumentals. and i've been tinkering around the ideas of microphones. the think is, i dont want to spend a lot of money on it. my budget? no budget since i'll be saving up this ramadhan.

i've heard about shure sm57 bein a good quality mic, but are they any other good mics (preferably dynamic mics) out there? i'm also thinking of using a karaoke mic which i cant find at home. lastly, i'm thinking of built in mics that seems to be alright, but picks up a lot of moises. how???

An SM57 is a great mic to get started on. You can get great vocal recordings with it in a bedroom studio. It is uni-directional so it only picks up sound from the front. It is much less sensitive than condensor or electret mics which is a good thing if your room/computer/neighbours are noisy and not treated acoustically like a recording studio. Plus it will be useful for recording other stuff like drums and guitar amps.
