MI Audio CrunchBox

lol well done bro.. thanks for the late nite contribution.. dun u jus find it overflowing with distortion juices

I would prefer the tubezone over the crunchbox.... as some have mentioned, the Cbox is a 1 trick pony, and despite being praised for that 1 trick, I don't like that trick it does... The EQ and distortion is not to my liking at all.

The Tubezone is okay for me, just seems to lack that mojo to really bond with me, I can't put my finger on it... however its is very tweakable, just that... the distortion character is pretty much grounded in a, as many have put it, mesa style.

Eh hello, i am the previous poster 'skidrow', forgot to switch back to my own account on soft.

You have to take not that the Crunchbox has mids that you cant really control, so if you are not a sucker for mids, it might not be your thing ya?

Okay most importantly you gotta go try it out. I live in the north, you could come over and give it a try.

and the Plexitone looks kinda promising, BB too, but that is a booost. But the price is scary for both of them.

Question time, errr the internal presence control, what does it really? Control your presence? Could someone explain it more to me? Thanks :)

tried one and contrary to what most people claim their pedals to do, which is high gain, i feel that it has not even stepped into high gain territory. maybe can consider a high gain od but surely not distortion. it doesnt exactly hold a candle to any brit amps ive tried so far unless u compare it to the marshall practice amps.

when u hear that a guitarist is using a certain pedal pls also do note which amp he/she is using. sadly they dont make amps in a box ahaha.

I have been quite irritated by my Crunchbox's high mids lately. Uh.

Could anyone enlighten me on what the presence control does? Haven't tried it.
I have a problem of the CB being too muddy alongside another guitar in the mix. Tips anyone? Thanks!

Hey Pong,

On the contary, i find that the crunch box lacks the mid that i need to cut thru. So what i did was to set my gain around 12 o clock and the tone that doesnt seem too sharp that kills, and stack a tube screamer before it.
Wonderful tone i am getting. The CB can get quite messy becasue its a very open pedal. Only way to solve this is to bring down the gain. :D

If a circuit is designed with a certain chip then substituting it with another is futile as its build around the character of the choice chip....even if its suggested by the builder !! :D
