i didnt know that there was so many metalcore bands nowadays
is it a trend,a phase or...?
would like to here ur views peeps..

hmm...i dunno why metalcore is growing big suddenly...but there really are some rather good metalcore bands out there...
personally, i think avenged sevenfold, shadows fall and bullet for my valentine r some pretty gd bands

To me,metalcore is just the next "emo".
It'll die out soon.
I dont know what you guys define "metalcore" though.
Of the above mentioned genres, the only "metalcore" band i've heard is a7x.
I don't really consider them a metalcore band though, sounds more like power metal to me.

The only band I considered metalcore and even bothered to listen to was Caliban and I got of it really quickly.
It was like the same thing over and over again.
Anyways,back on the topic,
I think it's really the fashion and the "tough-guy" image it projects that gets people into it.

For those in metalcore bands here, sorry if that offended you.
It's just what I feel. ;)

metalcore has nothing to do with a 'tough guy image' IMO. tough guy image = NY hardcore.

i have seen many bands who do metalcore perform. many play in jogging pants and a normal t-shirt and yet produce melodic-brutal-hardcore with the inlfuence of metal. i think that image does not strike when one talks about metalcore.

metalcore to me is exactly that. a bunch of musicians who are influenced by metal and hardcore out there having fun meshing the two genres, experimenting with melodic metal riffs and hardcore breakdowns.

yes it does all sound really catchy in the end, probably why it's so popular. if you have heard most of caliban's stuff then you'd notice that it does not all sound the same. they have changed alot in the years. one could say they were more melodic in the past then now.

good metalcore bands IMO are narziss, caliban, bleeding through, BTBAM, heaven shall burn.....

sorry murdoch if i have offended you!

the scene has changed alot..no more bands like hatebreed, earth criss,integrity..seriously its hard to differentiate emo and metal core nowadays..

and since when did metalcore started singing heartbrakes..?

Any variation of Metal except for thrash metal, speed metal, melodic metal, heavy metal, power metal and hair metal ... is gay. that is my view. ty.

Now you can Go Fish. :smt003

Damn i've always wanted to say that.

what about the used? i think they're metal \m/ WOOHOOOO
and those guys who perform to weird crowds(read:emo"ohimsosad, butwhatcanido?it'scool!"kids) and brand their music with "insertweirdcompletelyunheard offtheweirderthebetterthemorethatwill justmakepeoplegoHUH?!"name here-core. so hawt. so cool. so METAL YEAH NO SHIT
???BBQ?!
\m/ ^_^ \m/
METAL FOR LIFE BABYYYYYYYYY
 HELL YEAH

I think the rise of metalcore is largely a reaction to nu metal.

Metalcore borrows a lot from the thrash and heavy metal bands of old like Testament, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Judas Priest, Pantera, Biohazard, Sepultura and bands like that, mixed with the aggression of hardcore.

Some metalcore bands that I can think of are Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Lamb Of God, God Forbid, Trivium, Chimaira, Bleeding Through, Unearth, As I Lay Dying, Darkest Hour and a whole slew of others.

I think that, nu metal as a genre has ran out it's course and has become diluted and some musicians and fans crave for something more pure and closer to the metal side of things. But now things have splintered off to different sub genres like screamo, emo core, math core etc.. that sometimes the boundaries of these sub genres are kind of blurred. Is it a phase? Who knows. The thing is, from thrash metal to grunge to nu metal, once a certain genre becomes blown up and huge, there is always a danger of it becoming saturated and diluted to the point that it will become redundant, until a new musical movement comes in.
