relax bro.. relax.. Theres no such thing as power metal beat.. Its juz that power metal bands has been a norm to play those techniques.. Like those 6/4 staff.. So, it is a technique.. Not a concept.. And wat is punk rock beat? Its not punk rock beat.. Juz that punk bands like to use that technique.. Moreover, the 8th groove technique or wateve la ar, also widely used by thrash bands also.. Juz harder than punk rock... So these are techniques... nothing wrong nor negative to play all the techniques all at once.. the drummer, Jimmy Sullivan, is a very technical player... He got all his strokes executed well with their guitars... Theyre very highly influenced by metal bands u see... If u listen carefully to their songs, its all elements of metal like pantera, dream theater, megadeth and iron maiden... Hear synyster gates' solos, he is sooooo the petrucci stuffs he uses... Thank god at least they did not do stuffs like Linkin Park....
also, u cant escape from being sound like somebody else.. Coz if u said u r unique, for example, pentatonic scale, dont tell me ur solos are unique... jimi hendrix, led zeppelin, deep purple used pentatonic way back before... u cant escape... its influences, not ripoffs nor copies...
so dont get them wrong..
