metal core then and now..???

LOL!

Theres no need to hate any music genre. Core or Non-core.

One advice,

Music Is Universal and Needs No Translation.

They have their own listeners and fans. Don't like, Don't hear.

Music needs no haters.

Be opened about genres of music.

Even a slow rock song can change genre to HARDCORE ROCK.
Even a Ballad can change to HIPHOP

So be opened to new types of Genres.

Hope I don't offend anyone. Its how Music Works. Music has no Boudaries.

CHEERS!! ROCK ON!! :P

emo-core..i think its one of them genres like nu metal during korn/bizkit days where metal purist slammed them for being sell outs..but the fat distorted rhythm was quite catchy actually...
well music evolves man, why hate or dislike it..maybe u don't really dig but at least respect those who do..imagine folk ppl listening to COF.. imagine their dismay hahahahaha...

Hmm, its weird how people create names for genre lately.

I mean example, metalcore. what exactly is it?
the Core of Metal music?
wouldnt that be something like Black Sabbath since they are one of the few who revolutionized music back in the 70s which evolved into metal today?

What's up with that man. Same thing as Thrash Metal..what the hell, i dont get the name at all. I think it might be metal music that belongs in the trash?

haha. oh wel, just my 2 cents.

I_M_Kental
musical evolution will never end.
metal is metal but metal has plenty of subgenres
and metalcore isnt anything new really
was formed long long ago
long long ago

trash = anything worthless, useless, or discarded; rubbish.

thrash = to beat soundly in punishment; flog.

tell me whos the father of metalcore? its hard to tell because they all sound the same.

i'd say early crossover thrash bands like D.R.I. or even Suicidal Tendencies could've been called the originators of metalcore.

Mixing hardcore punk/skate punk with thrash metal.
Although the sound was different, the idea was there.
Blending these few elements together.

When you listen to the new crossover thrash bands like Municipal Waste, you can still trace the punk influence in them yet theres plenty of melodic riffs which are melodic enough to be considered metalcore too. Only that they didn't evolve into the growling and without the fusion of the emotive hardcore genre inside of it.

Its like people say Black Sabbath are the originators of Doom Metal but doom metal has gone such a loooooooooong way from the original sound that people nowadays refuse Black Sabbath as the originators.

it's kind of futile to discuss cause it would be quite easy to say why is heavy music called "metal" in the first place? why is fast anarchist music called "punk"? why is jazz called jazz, why is rock called rock, no stones of any kind of involved what, ok lame.

oh yeah and metalcore is called metalcore because
Metal + Hardcore= Metalcore.
Just like Breakfast + Lunch = Brunch. Not cos metalcore is the core of metal.

as some other bro said in another thread... why can't we enjoy music for what it is and reject all these names... life would be so much easier.

yeah! keep it simple! haha.
every year im getting more and more confused.

I never heard these terms/genres in the US at all when i was there back then. Guess things change so quickly

I think metalcore was just a catchphrase or rather a 'catchword' that was used to describe the more metallic sounding bands in the HARDCORE scene. It had no reference to crossover bands, thrash, or whatsoever. So i guess to some it all still falls under the hardcore umbrella. Bands like Integrity, Congress, Morning Again, Culture, Hatebreed, Fury of Five, etc..and a whole lot more....all spawned from the hardcore movement, and carry a very heavy, metallic sounding style in their music.

metalcore...is not metal.hahaha.. seriously i didnt have any problems at all with nu-metal bands. Y?its bcoz they keep the aggression. this new metalcore bands they do shit like music videos about SADNESS. wtf? and id say bands like at the gates influence metalcore bands alot.

!!

Maybe everytime the metalcore bands eat apple and are left with the core, they get so sad that the apple finish. So they decided to come up with a new genre to sing about how much they wish the apple had more flesh instead of a core. And maybe they band just so coicidentally plays metal.

And thus metalcore?

Yes? No?

Err...what was the topic again? My impression on it was hardcore bands playing with a metal-edge. Not 'nu-metal' or bands with depressed, sad members, etc....But it's real interesting to know different individual's interpretation on the topic.
