hey guys..just want ur views on todays metal core bands like bullet for my valentine,as i lay dying, from autumn to ashes..etc.. compared to the the good old days like earth crisis, integrity, strife, hatebreed, all out war..etc..

are they just bands with really agrresive music with boyband lyrics..?? u tell me..

i personally hate them...all this nu-metal metalcore is, sorry to say, but sh*t for me. this is my personal opinion tho.

stay true to your metal heritage ppl, listen to slayer, sepultura, iron maiden ,metallica, megadeth, behemoth etc.

never understood all this "core" business. to me it's like unnecessary "expansion packs" for metal.

i mean, isn't metal, METAL? if so then why is there a need for metal-core?

^ exactly my sentiments bro, i wanna see the day when a pop-core of R&B -core or hip hop-core pops up...lmao

so true...the only difference in core i realised is that the vocalist can only scream and when he sings normally, his voice like punk rocker la!

the expansion packs are just mindless...just name urselves metal already can la!

i think its more that marketing people that give them genres like metal-core, post-whatever, whatever-core

The genre of hardcore music is a cross-breed of metal and punk. Bands like Judge and Sick Of It All were probably the earliest hardcore bands to have a heavier metal sounding to their style in the balance of the 2 genres. These bands together with their other peers (Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, etc) were without realising; defining the traditional hardcore sound already.
I guess this whole metal-core became a sub-genre itself when generations after generations of hardcore bands took the already in-balanced (more metal sounding) mix to a new level...bands like Integrity and Earth Crisis. Some hardcore purist didn't like this evolution, and felt that the elements of its roots were getting diluted through its sound. Others debated that hardcore is more than just 'sound', and rather an entire culture and lifestyle. Today, fans of heavy, intense music are jumping into the debate on the level and intensity of these bands...whether its appropriate for them to be tagged as metal; without tarnishing the already established repertoire of metal icons like Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth, etc..
Whatever it is, its just a style of music that the band has created for itself. Lyrically what they represent is another whole different definition on its own. A classic band that I love very much and has great metal riffings in it, but still arguably and no-doubt a true 'core' as in hardcore band would be Inside Out. Check 'em out.

Just curious, hate is a very strong word, what have they done to you to make you hate them?

Maybe because they shouldn't be categorised in metal.. Since when metal talk about love one?

they sound the same to me... metalcore... posthardcore... if they're good. they're good... why so many genres... marketing... :? hmm

I personally think HIM sounds more alternative than metal.. That Love metal stuff is just a slogan to me

i have no idea valo..

ask the boys.

kidding..no offence to anyone..

if u feel offended, den u have a problem with life

cos life's juz like tt.

actually it's strange cos there was a time in the 80s where bands like D.R.I. , S.O.D., C.O.C, Cryptic Slaughter and Suicidal Tendencies were called metalcore but they share litte or no similarities with metalcore bands of today. Now everyone refers to that 1980s period as crossover.
