Mesh heads

I intend to convert my acoustic kit into a "silent" semi-electroni kit via mesh-heads and piezo triggers over the course of the next few months.

I have read that pearl meshheads are not very durable and responsive but i only know those are the only brand meshheads sold by Swee Lee. Are there better meshheads being sold by other shops out there?

Oh yeah, on a side not, i own a M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 which i got specifically for audio production. It has a midi-input. Would be able to record the midi events of my drumkit once its linked to a drum module that has a midi-out? So that would still give me the ability to edit the midi events later right?

Thanx!

im no expert in A to E conversion but from what i know, swee lee has roland mesh heads which has sizes up to 14".. so for the bigger toms and bass drums, u have to ship aquarian Magnum Mesh heads...

be prepared to pay here too.

read up vdrums forums. there's lots of useful threads there.

cheers.

Ahh tt's great cuz only my Bass Drum is 22". The rest are 14" and below.
I'm prepared to fork out a bit of cash ah. So that's cool.

Thanx bro!

yeah cool mate.. do invest in good drum modules and all...

i was inspired to do this project but simply abandon it as it's really2 overwhelming for me. and budget wise too..

i didn't regard anything like cymbals, snare and everything coz i was soo keen on doing this project but it's much more practical for me to just go ahead with acoustics and so i read up lots on gears and GAS more..

gd luck on ur project and pls post some pics too... there are a few bros here at soft who completed the project.

I'm keen on doing this project cuz playing aloud in a HDB sucks. I dun like pissing off my neighbours and the crappy muffling that i have to deal with is irritating (muted cymbals). And playing in a small room kills the drum sound (which is already cheap-sounding to begin with).
Moreover, i want to do midi-recording for drums but i hate the feel (and price) of electronic drums. Or rather, the feel of cheap electronc drums since the higher end ones are pretty good these days.

I already do quite good drum tracking using soundfonts and midi. If i could use midi events from a drum-module tt are recorded live, that would make a cheap yet stellar way to record. Nvm the lack of live sound. haha.

Yeah i'll slowly get the kit done and i'll definitely post pics.

I can't really comment much on the mesh heads as I've only used pearl mesh heads so far.

But pearl isn't very durable thats for sure. I'm on my 3rd bass drum mesh head since the start of the year.
