megadeth or metallica????

In what way is he a lousy singer?

The truth is, he is. But like sehaime said his has the characteristic thats perfect for the aggressive sound of megadeth. Many metal frontmen aren't great singers too. Except of course the vocal god, Sebastian Bach.

give one gd reason y he's a lousy vocalist then?

other than tone...which is subjective in itself and doesn't qualify

He sounds whiny, tiny, and with recent developments and releases, has totally lost his aggression which was his only redeeming feature back in the day.

And have you heard him live yet? Flat with totally no agression.

Have you ever heard him sing without the music backup? I have and its not really pleasing to the ears. Yeah I know he's your idol, he's mine too but in term of singing you have got to admit he can't really carry a tune well. Heck even King Diamond isn't a good singer imo but his style is so unique it stands out and he's one of my fav metal vocalist. BTW I'm also a fan of mustaine's snarling voice.

well i haven't heard him in those conditions...I've heard him in Singapore and I thought it was awesome....whiny, tiny, lost of aggression are all subjective

Yeah sehaime is right. He lost that aggression in recent releases, the intensity is missing. Some of his live singing is cringe worthy, but he did quite well duirng the Singapore concert.

lyrically, megadeth has written better songs in their newer albums, than tallica.
i prefer metallica's older songs coz their lyrics are pretty awesome, esp in mop and justice albums. but now, metallica to me has gone down lyrically.."love is a four letter word..!!!?" haha...still laughing at it while im typing it down.

i still vote for metallica coz they're my favorite band in terms of versatility. metal, hard rock, hell..even country(lynrd skynrd's tuesdays gone cover), metallica have done it. why? coz they can.

did i hear king diamond?? he's cool man, lots of range with his voice man. anyway i like dave vox till even now i think he still has it.

mmm hetfield used to be very good with his vocals although he himself doesn't like to sing. 83 - very young, shrieking and all. 84-88 - cool abang² lobang vox. 89-93 - evil growly aggressive. 94-99 - Woohwuuuwooohhhh... i don't understand what he is singing. 2000-2008 - Saint shit vox... can't go back!

Whiny and tiny are not subjective. There is a certain assumption of standards to it. You would know when something is tiny, you don't call a whale tiny. Whiny, also got definition, if the description fits the definition, then it's a fact, not subjective. Same goes for aggression.

Good or bad is subjective. I wouldn't categorize descriptions as subjective, because you will always have something else to refer to when making the comparison, thus the statement.

Well, to you a whale could be tiny, but that isn't true is it?

alright we're going to english lessons here....

is "beautiful" a description? i would think so

"good" and "bad" are descriptions too anyway...

a whale is not tiny....but is his singing tiny? that is a whole different story

how do u define whiny?

using the whale is bringing this whole thing out of context

basically there's someone who thinks he sounds whiny and tiny while i don't think so....
therefore --> subjective

It's because there are certain benchmarks for one to compare with.

Whiny and tiny are but comparisons to that, they are not subjective. But whether whiny and tiny is good or bad, that now becomes subjective.

how do u explain the difference in perception if it's not subjective then....it is true that i think he doesn't sound whiny/tiny

with the amount of feeling he sings with.......i don't think it's unfair for someone to think he sounds impactful and not tiny

well it would be true if you're comparing a whale to the titanic, the moon and the sun...the whale WOULD then be tiny. size is relative to it's comparisons.
