manners while moshing aka moshing for dummies *sticky please*

if you punch me and don't apologise after i wince in pain or stare daggers into your retinas, i will (attempt) to punch you, knock your teeth back down your throat, rip your neck open and ejaculate my semen down your throat. proceeding which i will eat your babies.

bro rotterramone bro, no lah.. been watching Saw 4 and Beowolf and listening to Mastadon. Bloodlust lah.

Those of you who keep suggesting, recommending, ammending on the act of moshing as we know it: So you're the final authority?

Some fun-loving guys start something fun, you join in, find out it's not for you, then you complain?

Moshing isn't a cultured act. It's definitely not a pleasant sight for the pleasant person, only a visual depiction of wild teenagers having kicks out of modern music. So if you're a pleasant person, stop ruining the unpleasant.

you have some serious issues..go sort them out then post in this forum bro

moshing:metal

dancing:salsa

get the analogy? moshing is indeed a cultured form of expressing your love for the music and it should in no way cause harm to others

gutturalpiss

But seriously with all my experiences in the metal scene (7 years). What i saw at LSB/baybeats is ridiculous. Those ppl know nothing about moshing man. Shit ppl surely getting hurt during moshing but its not becoz somebody beat the crap out of them.
Come on nowadays i see indie scene'ster moshing. Come on leave it to the rude boy/girl, punk, skinhead, metalhead coz u guys dunno what u are doing man. Damn.

Just my 2 cents no offence to anyone.

Unless u want to make something out of it.
Muahahhahaha..

serious. i am getting sick and tired of hearing all this "a-scene doesn't know how to mosh" or "b-scene is the only thing you should mosh to"

bla bla bla

is everyone who contributes to this thread so myopic that you have no respect for the styles and cultures of other genres? are you going to sit there and sulk all day long about how nobody understands your scene and culture?

well suck it, maybe it's because nobody cares when we all act like pre-pubercent tantrum throwing twats..

moshing is fun, and it's physical, yes. but when people get hurt to a point when they're being trampled on, punched in the face or being groped sexually, i think there's something fundamentally wrong with why you're moshing in the first place, and i want no part in that.

If ur a hot girl, with lovely tits.... dun mosh! unless u like people touching you.
If ur afraid of getting hurt.... dun mosh!

if people follow the two simple rules ive stated, no one wld be complaining

hahaha

wow serious? those dickheads complain about metal being noisy and satanic and now they "steal" moshing from us metalheads.

funny buncha gaylords. they should all kill each other while moshing. lawl. bring it.

cheers

i feel that people should not push people that do not want to mosh into the pit, and whats worse is that they themselves dont take part. dont ever do that, i feel that is damn cowardly, you want to push, go push the other people already moshing in the pit. adding to that, moshing to metal or hardcore is okay, but to indie acts like GSE, its like WTF?

Thrashard by D.R.I. from the album "Thrash Zone"

There's a gig
At 5th and Main
Gonna catch the bus
Or take the train
We'll steal or find
Or borrow cash
And we'll be there
Ready to thrash

The band kicks in
They begin to rage
No-man's land
In front of the stage
Poseurs in the bathroom
Still looking at their hair
Thrashers in the foreground
Doing what they dare

In the pit [5]

Thrashing and slamming
Like hell in the pit
Tomorrow they know
May not come
Banging and moshing
Like they don't give a shit
To the rapid beat
Of the drum

A boot to your forehead
A knee in your face
Your nose and lips
Start to bleed
Like a wild Indian
From outer space
Drunk and
High on weed

Guitar seems so lovelovelovelovelovelovelove loud
People walking on the crowd
Diving off the P.A. stacks
Breaking ankles,necks and backs
Then the circle begins
In the thrashing pit
Fist are flying
People getting hit
Tooth chippers left and right
Skinheads in another fight
Banging heads and broken jaws
Because there are no laws

In the pit

Then you start thrashing
Like never before
Stagediving, headwalking like mad
Doing your thing
All over the floor
The best time that you've ever had

You are hurt all over
But can't feel a thing
Not until the next day
Then you wake up
Stiff as a board
And the pain won't go away

Another gig at 5th and Main
We'll catch the bus
Or take the train
We'll steal or find
Or borrow cash
And we'll be there
Ready to thrash

In the pit [5]

history and human behviour has shown, we tend to repeat mistakes and have no problem in repeating the same mistake over and over again. Only different is different group of people making the mistake and repeating the same words weeks later, years later, decades later

heh, guess slam dancing havent been unbanned yet, ever since the rollins band at slf auditiorium in early 90s, lets make this decade memorable by making moshing kena banned also

You see pathein, that's where the issue lies. Not everyone in the pit is out to kill the guy standing next to him (or heaven forbid, her). It's just a few morons spoiling the image of the majority.

I know this example has been beaten to shit in the last couple of days, but at LSB I saw so many sights that strengthened my faith that there are still plenty of fantastic people on the scene. For instance, there was this chunky guy standing a short distance to my right during AVA's set, who literally yanked himself out of the crowd, barricaded two really petite girls into the sidelines, and took the blows from the bunch of mat simians full-on with his body. (mind you, these were FULL-FORCE punches and kicks that those morons were swinging around) I think at some point he got nailed straight in the gut, and from the looks of it the two girls had never even met the dude before Saturday.

My point is? I've seen so many people going on about how moshing is bad, moshing is evil, if you don't wanna get hurt, don't jump into the pit, blah blah blah blah yak yak yak blitherry doo.

The whole point is to have fun. And that's what most people who are actually aware that there is specific code of conduct to observe fully intend to do. They don't intend to leave with a victim toll higher than BTK's.

Nobody said that moshing involves intentionally hiring yourselves out as human tarmac. I mean sure, you SHOULD go in prepared to face the possibility that you might get hurt, but that doesn't mean that it HAS to happen just cos a couple of retards are pissed off at their upbringing.

But seriously moshing is fun!! I love it!! But the thing is that the people i mosh with last time are considerate people just out to have some fun not to beat someone for fun.

But u guys haven kena the studs yet. jialat thats one can really hurt u. I kena on my hand b4 f*ck hurts like hell the next day. Hahahha.. So actually its fun, until someone gets hurt or die. Heheheh..

Anirudh: Ho ho ho ho. You didn't get the middle line, and I'M the one with issues? Loosen up tough guy, if not you won't be able to mosh like a troo metalhead.

So according to your understanding, or I believe your THEORY, the term "moshing" refers to the cultured act of having fun and appreciating a certain genre of music, to which you have proclaimed authority to and are now defining it? Please get your theory right, based on facts. Take your time to understand what "culture" is, and what "cultured" is.

That is not an "analogy". Salsa has been defined to include a sort of dance, that is the art. Moshing in Metal music has not been defined by any qualified person. Where did moshing begin? When did it begin? If I recall correctly, moshing was not given "birth" to by Metal, but rather by extreme music where the act of pushing against each other is influenced by stimuli, or is a stimulant by itself. The tempo, pitch & frequency of a song all play a part when the stimulus is active. This is, now, a part of enjoying Heavy Metal music socially, or personally - whichever suits you. However, nobody will tell you Moshing = Metal. Also, no single outsider without knowledge will know what to think of the act other than it being "a bunch of uncultured teenagers". Do a survey.

The point I was trying to get through is don't make it a big deal. Something like what Shert has already mentioned above. It's a form of appreciation, so you appreciate it in whatever way the situation appears. You don't complain when things get too rough, because when that happens you are supposed to decide whether you're in or out. There are so-called posers and spoilers in every scene, every culture, every nation. Singapore is a bit too tainted, that I agree. Then again, like I said, you are not the final authority so do not define the act of moshing unless a law gets passed on. It is something to be understood by those involved, and if this country is full of idiots, then too bad; go some place else and mosh. If you can discipline those idiots, good for you and you have my support.

uhm, just my personal opinion, but moshing is supposed to be fun, so i dont think it should be "resticted" to just some genres right? i think gse is fine. maybe nt stuff like fire fight or allura lar (unless someone would find that perfectly suitable for moshing, in which case, go for it). lots of ppl moshed at gse's set at lsb.
