hi everybody
any idea where i can find m-audio gear in singapore ?
i am still contemplating between m-audio firewire 410 and e-mu 1820m
whats your oppinion ?
the bigest pro about the m-audio is that it is compatible with both laptop and PC.
thanks

m-audio 410 seems to be plagued by bugs (according to many forums). But m-audio does provide a lot of cheap and useful gear. But most definitely, in all aspects, the emu 1820 WILL outshine the m-audio. But that's obvious, since the emu's features are a whole lot more, and much more expensive...

I think MIDIMAN 's 410 haves not so many bug . I 'm international student.
In my country , many musician use it , but I did not find anyone tell me 410 have problem which bugs .

I suppose every audio software have bug, include RME or Pro Tools.

haha, im at the receiving end of bugs from the 410. But that's because I owned it for a year and only then it failed on me. I was very disappointed abt it. Tried to send it back to Sinamex for servicing but the staff didnt recommend it as it would be expensive and waiting for its return will take a long while. Now it's sitting on my desk not doing anything.

Anybody up for buying it for spare parts?

Just for the record, my Audiophile 192 short circuited so it was sent back to the US factory for 'repairs'. And after 5 months they sent it back, giving me a new sound card. Grrr. Couldn't they have done that earlier.

Personally, I still own a Firewire Audiophile from M-audio, as well as quite a lot of M-audio gear. Currently, I have been quite lucky, I think. Speaking of which, anyone want to buy my Firewire Audiophile? :P

But on the whole, I get the feeling that M-audio stuff is not so reliable compared to other stuff, based on numerous user reviews and problems posted in other forums. This doesn't mean that the other brands don't ever break down or screw up, of course.

But I like M-audio stuff for its cost effectiveness. Same goes for Behringer. :)

You send your 192 back to Sinamex or straight to US? And how much did it cost you?

I sent it back to Sinamex and it did not cost me a thing since it was still under warranty.

every problem in 410```I do not think so.

Meybe the problem in your IEEE1394 card .

different IEEE1394 card ,different main IC, different problem.

Luck All

Nah, i've since bought the firewire solo. It works fine. But im still speculating if i should send my 410 for repairs even tho the warranty is over.

Should try e-mailing M-audio.
I find the tech support department very helpful - I bought an old 8x8 Midisport 2nd hand that is not supported by XP. Emailed M-audio with my problem and they sent 2 firmware chips FOC.
